'Busy just dealing' ? When I started this silly game last year I thought it would keep me busy studying and learning, I haven't studied much, I've learnt less, except don't sell your GGP shares just because the Ausies attack them while you are sleeping, but annoying people on here in between the odd jobs does make the day go quick. I do feel I need to get to grips with charts so that I can argue with msuk though. lol

Maybe, you never know, we may get lucky, I would never say it definitely won't happen. I don't personally care whether I go on holiday or not, if i can avoid stress all year then I don't need to unwind. My wife loves to sunbathe, but once I've got the traveling out of the way I do enjoy it, I like to eat so I sit in the shade all day and enjoy the evenings out.

Everyone has different priorities, people are different, I don't make the rules for others, I have no right to, but our dearest friends live in a bigger house than us, they holiday frequently, they love hot places, that's great, but then they sit in the cold at home in the winter, that's just plain wrong.

Callit - Talking of 'things you enjoy' , I have a couple of small projects in the garage, but since the wife retired 6 months ago by the time I've chilled over a late brekky not much gets done, I used to take her to work early and then get busy doing something, funny how easy it is to drift into a lazy lifestyle.

I think it boils down to:- if you try to be a generally happy person then a bit more money may make you even happier, but if you are by nature a miserable sh*t then no amount of money will change that. I had Covid in the early days, before it was fashionable, (at the start of the first lockdown) got over it only to end up in hospital with a second dose a few weeks later, I never forget how lucky I was to get through it, I was frightened to close my eyes at night in case I didn't wake up, but I also never forget that I was one of the lucky ones, I just ended up with an even more warped sense of humour, I'm just sorry it's so annoying to others.

We have just been for a walk along a stretch of the Thames, it's moving at an alarming speed, if you walk along there in the summer your mind wanders to how lovely it would be to have the kind of money that would allow you to sit in your garden watching the boats whilst sipping your G&T, today I just felt sorry for the people who are worrying if the water is going to get any higher. We're all busy here trying to get rich but sometimes money isn't enough.

OSD - I fully understand the comparison between the 2 lifestyles, when we go to Lanzarote or Spain we tend to do breakfast in the hotel and enjoy the variety of the different restaurants in the evening, but it isn't as cheap as some of the TV travel shows would have us believe, almost as expensive as the UK.

I'm glad the community life works for you, in 2020 the most unpleasant people I have ever met moved in next door, I wouldn't p*ss in their mouths if their teeth were on fire, and I hate saying that, I've always been a person that likes to help others. Some you win, some you lose.

Not quite sure what the interruption was for as all comments were made within the context of a conversation. As I mentioned earlier, most people I know have had inheritances and so most are better off than me, I am more than happy in their company, whether or not the talk turns to money. I would be the first to speak out if I thought someone was trying to make me feel a lesser person by boasting about their wealth. Maybe he should have read all the posts, or learn to interpret what he reads before attacking people.

Callit - As long as I'm not cold, have enough to eat, and don't have ask myself if I can afford it before I go to the pub I am a happy bunny, I have no desire to save for my boys, and they don't want me to, they can share the house if I don't invest in too many more dogs have to sell it. If I was wealthy I would find something to spend it on, it won't be going with me when my time comes.

Wulfgar - That is all valid stuff, people do tend to judge theirselves against others, and are constantly being pressured to do so. I also think that some believe that they can take I with them, I know a few people who have far more money than us due to receiving inheritances but they sit in the cold because heating is expensive, it's a crazy world.

Your comment on spending is quite interesting. Almost daily there is another article in the paper telling us how much we need to live a comfortable life in retirement. We are a way off of being what I call wealthy, our biggest expense by far is eating out, nice pubs or modest restaurants, no £200 bill type stuff, I know we don't have to pay rent but we don't need anything like the kind of figures these journalists speak of.

Do either of you ever day trade ? It must have been good for a few people on here, and I hold another yoyo where it looks like it would be profitable, wouldn't work for a small player like me though.

OSD - Good morning, I totally understand why people take that approach, my level of investment will never be life changing but if this went back to 13p, and it might one day, I would get a nice drink. I don't criticise anyone, I have no right to, who wants to risk a sizeable chunk here, I just think people need to be realistic about the situation.

I was in at 9.2p last year, only bought a few, then added a few more more, being new I lost my nerve in the chaos, got a few again @ 3.60, I'll never be an investor but I won't make that mistake again. (Says the man who sold SML thinking they might drop back).

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When I look at my screen and see the ones i got lucky on I find myself thinking how good it would be If i was a proper investor who didn't run a dog kennel, But I don't spend any time trying to learn so if don't lose too much I'll be happy with my lot.

Callit - I think everyone would wish for that outcome, and there's nothing wrong with that, but there are vast differences between the 2. One being that Shaun Day and his team are on level that is very unlikely to be matched here, the other that GGP are sitting on a huge pile of cash and an even bigger pile of gold. Again I stress that I don't wish to be negative but I don't know anyone who truly knows what, if any, the aspirations of the board are.

OSD - I'm not certain but I don't think there are any plays scheduled. There are unconfirmed reports that the circus may have booked the venue, so don't be surprised if the occasional clown pops up.
