ANNOUNCEMENT                                                                                                                                          05 JULY 2017                                                             SETTLEMENT OF RIO TINTO REPAYMENT Coal of Africa Limited (?CoAL?) and its subsidiary company, MbeuYashu Proprietary Limited (?MbeuYashu?) are pleased to announce that CoAL has fulfilled all its obligations to Rio Tinto Minerals Development Limited (Rio Tinto) in June 2017 in relation to the agreements under which MbeuYashu acquired interest in Chapudi Coal Proprietary Limited and Kwezi Mining Exploration Proprietary Limited. David Brown, Chief Executive Officer of CoAL commented, ?The final repayment and completion of the Rio Tinto Chapudi transaction is a milestone for the company, as it resolves the outstanding legacy issues which have plagued the company for the past 5 years. ANNOUNCEMENT 02 NOVEMBER 2016 MINISTER DISMISSES APPEAL AGAINST ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION AMENDMENT AT MAKHADO PROJECT Coal of Africa Limited (?CoAL? or the? Company?) is pleased to advise that the South African Minister of the Department of Environmental Affairs (?DEA?), Ms Edna Molewa, has dismissed an Appeal against the Environmental Authorisation (?EA?) Amendment for the Makhado Project in the Limpopo Province. . The EA Amendment was granted in July 2016 in terms of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA) (Act 107 of 1998), amending the holder of the authorisation from CoAL to Baobab Mining and Exploration Limited (Pty) Ltd, the legal entity for the Makhado Project, thus ensuring the alignment of the ownership of the full suite of regulatory authorisations in the appropriate operating vehicle. The EA Amendment further amends the validity period of the EA, extending the commencement period for an additional 5 years. An appeal against the EA Amendment was lodged in August 2016 by the Vhembe Mineral Resources Stakeholders? Forum. Commenting on the decision, David Brown, Chief Executive Officer of CoAL said, ?We welcome this decision by the Minister, and confirms the support of the Provincial and National Government for the Makhado Project and its potential to drive meaningful socio-economic transformation. Coal of Africa Limited (?CoAL? or the ?Company?) is pleased to announce the appointment of Shangren Ding as a non- executive director of the Company with effect from 11 October 2016. Shangren Ding, aged 54, is an experienced professional engineer who brings considerable experience to the CoAL board having worked for a number of mining and energy companies as well as acting as a consultant to government geological bureaus. Shangren has over 30 years? experience predominately in the coal mining sector and he has gained extensive operational coal mining knowledge through chief operating roles at a number of mines in the Heilongjiang province in the People?s Republic of China. From 1998 to 2004 Shangren was director of technology and equipment at Harbin Zhongqing Gas Co Ltd. Since 2004 Shangren has worked in a number of senior roles for Beijing Haohua Energy Resource Co., Ltd and is also currently the deputy general manager and chief representative in South Africa of Haohua Energy International (Hong Kong) Co Ltd (?HEI?). Shangren is joining the board of CoAL as a representative of HEI, CoAL?s largest shareholder. Chairman, Bernard Pryor, commented ?I am delighted to welcome Shangren to our Board.
