Ministers believe an online sales tax, which would involve a new levy on internet shopping, could help stem the collapse of the high street. Business groups including the British Retail Consortium have vocally opposed the measure, which they argue would hit high street retailers with online operations and result in higher costs for shoppers at a time of severe weakness in the British economy.

However, several big retailers, including Tesco, have previously backed the launch of an online sales tax to redress the balance. According to the Sunday Times, Rishi Sunak, the chancellor, is supportive of such a move, but would probably wait until the autumn to launch a raid on internet firms such as Amazon, Asos and Ocado, rather than using the 3 March budget.

so even if they do decide on an on-line tax its being looked at for the autumn, is this going to be the topic until then or are we going to move on and wait until the end of summer ?

Buys comfortably ahead of sells now so should bounce back once MM manipulation has been completed for who ever they are filling out for

Aim4, Government may wish to raise more money however the original argument for this was to save the high street
The high street is dead !, the only down trend to this is my pocket ! as my misses only bought when going to the shops once every few weeks, now the high street is dead she has to go on-line, she finds this much easier and shops on-line every couple of days now, there's your extra revenue for the government LOL

This is pure MM manipulation, more buys that sells should see a bounce back, so getting ready with a chuck of cash to add when i think we are at a low.

Agree Moose, i also think an online tax is too late to save anyone else as Covid has brought the death of the high street forward by years, no one else to save pointless doing it

Hi Moose, I certainly would not put stop losses in at a couple of pence below like some of these trades have, having watch this bounce over the time i have been here i would say 5% below the ask

Usual story, short term investors putting in stop losses too close to the actual price, hence all the Auto trades, and MM's taking advantage to round up cheaper shares for bigger long term investors

I would rather hold and be patient than loose out on the big bucks, just a matter of time and its getting closer

Why people want to sell at this price is beyond me, likely to double its price on awaiting news and its not a day traders paradise, do your homework traders this is a good buy at this price
