Pfizer to buy Arena Pharmaceuticals for $6.7bn

Pfizer has agreed to buy Arena Pharmaceuticals for $6.7bn in a deal that brings potential therapies targeting immuno-inflammatory diseases.

The drug giant will pay $100 a share in an all-cash transaction for Arena and its assets in gastroenterology, dermatology and cardiology. That’s about double Arena's Friday closing price.

Pfizer, which partnered with BioNTech on the widely used Comirnaty Covid-19 vaccine, said the deal complements its capabilities in inflammation and immunology and will contribute to growth through 2025 and beyond. It plans to speed up clinical development of etrasimod, Arena's lead drug candidate.

To me it makes no differance which day it will unbind. I've spent the last year buying and I don't plan on selling for some time yet. Hold and relax I say.

Lats week I stated there would be a TR1 from a new buyer before the end of this month. Yesterday's frantic auction might just bring that date forward. Someone is becoming more aggresive and wants more. Rumour is that they are just outside of Washington where several big pharmas have their headquarters. Hold on tight to those golden tickets Christmas could come early.

It always happens when shorters are trying to push this share dow. It happened on magic Monday we were well above 200p then it was streams of derampers and NT then down to 162p. Best to ignore.

I have asked the company for a copy of yesterdays presentation. It is very strange that an RNS was released yesterday notifying of data to be discussed but then we are not informed the next day as to what ws discussed.

There are more buyers out there so far not named. I do not believe either Polygon of Polar paid for the hatchet job.

Oh and another thing about why I was a day out. The company secretary was informed on Friday but didn't release until today.
