Thanks. I am aware that I have become a bit of a cheer leader for HLC. I am sure it will come good eventually - just wait for the market to catch up. Unfortunately they are not the type of company to give lots of updates. It is a very simple business and so it is just a case of watching shipping prices. Compared to most companies they make a lot of money and deserve a higher rating. Even though the downturn last year they made $18m profit, have $71m in cash, a NAV of $101m and yet only have a market valuation of 32m sterling. Given the rise in the shipping index and the fall in sterling, profits can only rise in sterling terms. It is ridiculous

When I first noted the panamax daily rate on 26th April is was $29,875. 12. Now 3 weeks later we are upto $35,502 today. I think this index has risen every day over the last few weeks. This, I think, is a reflection of demand from China, india and developing countries. I presently live in Peru and here exports rose 46% in the first quarter compared to last year.

Why do you believe the share price should be higher. They are on a PE of 8. Their net assets are less than their capitalisation and their profits fell from 4m to 1m in the year to 31st December 2009. I am genuinely interested in the share and what the company does. however, I just wondering what a decent price really is?

Just took a punt on these. They look well oversold. Capitalisation of only 2 million. No debt issues, a small interim profit and net assets of 22 million. cash of 3.9m at the end of November. The recent offer is just silly. I am sure that by the end of the review period in a month this should bounce.

Sorry, my mistake, 4 of the 6 ships are Panamax, not Supramax. The rates I noted are for Panamax. The also have one handymax and one supramax

They also have US$71m cash and net assets of of US$101m Finally, If shipping rates have doubled you can be sure that Panamax ships are not sitting idle this year.

Hi Tool doctor. Nice to see you still here. Any thoughts as to why so little interest in these. I have topped up today. I cannot see any short term downside unless there is a drop in international trade, which I just canno see. These are CHEAP. I suspect most people do not appreciate the that the baltic dry index is made up of several small er indexes. I certainly did not until recently.

Great bounce on these shares in the last couple of weeks. they are now sitting on a PE of 4 but does anyone know why they are still valued so lowly when thier sister company CFC sits on a PE of 18. To me the fundamentals are stronger at sorbic. Any thoughts?

No problem. If you get a chance take a look at AEC. They are growing really quickly but the share price looks too low to me. In fact it is near a 12 month low. They are involved with education courses in the far east, notably Malaysia, where the economy is doing fine. They also bought OXford House Language School last year, which should do pretty well given the state of sterling.

Considering the downturn in the world economy and what happened to shipping prices the results were great. 18m US$ on a turnover of 58m US$. And yes, they paid a dividend of 2.47p per share. Remember the baltic Dry index is weighted heavily in favour of the larger capex ships, where prices have fallen. These Supramax ships have seen a huge rise in thier rates, which is increasing. Strictly on fundamentals these are worth more than 70p today. Net assets of 101m US$ and Cash of 71m US$ Good luck

Has anyone looked at what has happened to the Baltic Supramax index this year? It is double what it was most of last year and is rising. China and india will continue to push up demand for industrial transport. 4 of Hellenics 6 ships are Supramax. If this continues we are going to see a pretty big jump in profits. Hellenic is today valued at about 50m US$. Has 71m US$ in CASH. Has net asets of 101m US$ and made 18m US$ through the huge shipping down turn last year. Am I missing something here?

Price fall reflecting general lack of interest and small number of shares out there. ie nearly every small trade results in a movement. Toped up at 18.5p today on the drop. Results should be out very soon and should be cracking, if the interims are anything to go buy.

Nice to see a recovery in their share price. However, I think there is a lot more to come. Now valued at 10m They have made 3m in each of the last 2 years, through the recession. Their existing production facilities are operation at full capacity (check the webpage). Also expect big movement, like the last few days given only 8% of the shares are in public hands They now refer to robust trading and their new factory unit

I have no understanding or interest in charts. I am more interested in fundaments At the moment they are on a PE of only 3. With a valuation of 6m they have 21m in net assets. They made a profit of nearly 3m last year. If they achieve that again then the price is very low Their statement talks about the quick repayment of debt and upturn in work. Given that almost all the shares are with directors and a few large shareholders it only takes a bit of good news to move the price. Look at the trades today. In reality not a huge volume but nearly all buys. Given, for me, the remaining low valuation it will not take much to push this up quckly. I hope I am right I noticed that you are on the Southern Bear board. Do you have any opinions on them? I have no money there but wondered whether they are undervalued now?
