It's not necessarily a hedging issue but a supply issue. If the SOH opens tomorrow there are no deliveries for at least 6 weeks. It will be months before supply matches demand. There will be shortages long before that. We will see though!

However good you think IAG is as a business it does not insulate it from supply change realities and demand destruction from higher enforced fares. Wishing it away will not change that fact!

United Airlines post a $340m charge in Q1 for fuel cost rise. Just the beginning. Even if airlines claw some back through higher fares there will be demand destruction on top. SOH still closed. IAG will see £3 before it sees £4 imo. I would be very careful with this sector.
