Surely the Directors granting themselves potentially £10M of free shares should be authorised and approved by ALL shareholders. It maybe a fruitless exercise as they must have got the approval of major shareholders eg Lombard, before doing so, but at least it would give smaller shareholders a chance to voice their views!
People seem to have missed that we now have Unitt and Needham onboard our board, two heavyweights in the healthcare industry with experience of opening doors on both sides of the Atlantic and a range of top quality contacts who respect their opinions. Getting into Boots and the progress in obtaining US ok and a getting a top quality distributor will have been highly aided by these gentlemen, and having secured our finances, they will be pushing the development of our markets and products, no doubt ensuring that the big players will be eager to buy us at the highest price, thus getting their reward for their expertise and contacts.
Still very much on for a multi bagger!
I find the continuing criticism of Barder’s concern for FUM rather baffling! He has a huge reason for getting the company to a successful sale as he and his family must be interested in around 25% of the shares in the Company, indeed his father in law Mr RA Lamb and his investment company has 9.17% alone, and Barder has potentially lucrative options as well.
Sure mistakes have been made, some statements prematurely issued, and time has passed, but we have a product which is needed, serves a worldwide market, and is potentially hugely profitable. Phase three trials if sufficiently successful will open doors and start the recognition of the Companies true worth.
Mention has been made that we are a one product company - no! Although not in the spotlight we have another Item which has huge potential, our pain relief gel and applicator, also what about the CB Derma cooperation re Cannabidiol - that could serve a very large market.
In my (humble) opinion we have a driven business with a good variety of products and a very large return for the faithful. Yes I have had shares in FUM for years so could be termed a ramper, however I only write to point out what anyone else could have discovered, and yes it could all go t*** up but with the high possibility of phase three coming good and other products to come through I’m not selling any of my significant accumulation of shares for today’s pennies.
Funny how people’s attitude changes! The basic reason for investing in a company is usually to make money, so you research businesses to see what USP they have and if the management are capable and have product knowledge. All the speculation and guessing is just that, speculation and guessing. As very minority shareholders we have little knowledge about possible negotiations or the content of talks as these, quite rightly are confidential and very market sensitive.
My view as someone who invested with James Barder well before it became an AIM company is that the potential for several of its products is enormous and will be well worth the wait, but speculation by very small shareholders is a waste of time and won’t influence the share price one way or the other as institutions and Diectors (and their families) control the business. Save your breath (writing) do your own constructive research then invest or don’t
You are quite correct and reflect the situation spot on.
This was a well controlled growing business when the father was in charge, but like many family controlled businesses it passed control to the brothers who have spent the cash pile in the company they inherited, bought for an unsupportable price a competitor (the owners must have laughed all the way to the bank!) created a millstone with the pension scheme and lost sales and margins.
The only chance of getting the shares back to £3/4 is to get proper professional management into the business. Will this happen? I doubt it. The family in the company will continue to get their nice salaries, probably have enhanced pensions in place, and a nice level of expenses, so what is their incentive.
Yes, it’s a public company with legal commitments to minority shareholders, and I for one would call for an investigation by the authorities if it were to fail whilst the Directors, and former Directors, continue their mismanagement and take their remuneration etc in spite of the dire results.
Good luck to all who are still sailing with her - such a pity a great business is disappearing!
In for two or three years, wow! I’ve been in since before AIM days and still have the faith!
Obviously I’ve been taking something for stamina but it wasn’t anything from Futura!
This company is going to be a winner it’s portfolio of products gives it several chances of
attracting the right buyers, and product development whilst slow is gradually getting there -
I think talks have been going on for some time.
I’m not selling a single share. Good luck to you all.
Thomasbrowne - Evidently the current position required a new style of FD and my institutional contacts say that they agreed and approved of Angela. They didnt DEMAND a change but supported one, and although I dont know this, they may have suggested that it was opportune to upgrade. J B and Derek have been and are still are good friends, so there was nothing personal about the change and was an amicable departure. Without compromising my contacts and finishing my relationship and information flow, I shouldnt say more. I do love your and the other regular contributors to this board as you all t@lk a lot of sense and make us simplistic holders think about the options, and not take things at face value, thank you.
Rhoda I have long established contacts with some institutions who invested in FUM and as a FUM shareholder for 15 years (yes 15+ well before AIM) I can say that they no longer wanted just a figures man, albeit as good as he was, and Angela and her abilities were known to them, hence their approval of the ch@nge.
I know Institutions, some of our largest shareholders (!) encouraged the change of FD and are happy with the new one. Its easy to speculate about a sale but there are many things seemingly coming together. News soon methinks.

The change in FD is a welcome move. The former has been an able figures man and now they needed someone who can assist and move forward any negotiations, hence the change. Should allow Barder to increase time and pressure on deals. Also a move to conform with modern trends in having more ladies in the boardroom? lol
Fuzzbox and Greens43 - Oh ye of little faith! We were reminded not long ago, that James Barder and family are huge holders of shares, therefore have a very great financial interest in this company and its success, and so he is unlightly to miss out or botch a deal which so affects the family fortunes. I imagine his frustrations are as great as other shareholders, but slowly, slowly catchy monkey! Most of us agree that the business has several products which have enormous potential, however its a notoriously lengthy process getting medical/health products to market and there are many hurdles to overcome and sometimes the authorities or the market change the rules. I only write the above so other shareholders get a bit of balance, and give some encouragement to hold their shares as their reward is coming - no I cant say when, but I for one will bet its nearer 2018 than your 2028! Care for a wager?
I’m not a price predictor but I cannot see FUM being anything less than £1 or maybe £2 if only two of its products get to market and are proven to have a market. The big guns just love picking up companies who have done all the hard work for them, and all they need to do is pass things on to their marketing departments. Any sane investor does their own research and makes up their own mind not just talks about it! I was in for another 50k last week and picked up another 100,000 this week so I’m putting my money where my mouth is, and not just spouting off as so many do on these blogs. It’s been a wait but 2018 should bring news, good news hopefully, so good luck to everyone and a happy Christmas.
