Dear Fallingknife1. I have the same idea as you. Lets hope we are right. With a good dividend one can always sit and wait if necessary. Good luck.
Great fundamentals, strong company with an excellent dividend. Seams to me such good value at todays levels. I know political concerns are depressing the share price, but excellent value and I have been unable to resist and have made it my second highest investment by value of my share portfolio.
I have 4 complaints that I have made about Smart Investor to the Ombudsman. Barclays will not satisfy me 1. No online method to raise a complaint. You can do by phone which they do not like as they tend to have dispute with some details of the complaints and they do not give a reference number or you can do in writing, which they to respond very slowly. 2. I had no fees deductions March- September and then 6 separate fee deductions in one day. They say they forgot to charge me. The fees are much higher than previous charges. Trying to get the fees back is still an argument in progress. 3. They say they take maximum of 12 weeks to transfer. I started in early August, the new provider made a recorded request for transfer on 21 August, they finished on 21 December. Barclays Dumb Investors claim this is within their 12 weeks and "they" migrated to Smart Investor systems during this period. I still don't understand how they do not understand it is more than 12 weeks and they broke their own terms and conditions. Needless to say I am claiming and also filing complaint with the Financial Ombudsman. They also paid dividends late but they gave me 100 and a hamper for that so was dealt with fairly. Still a shareholder and should be fine as an investment. BUT DO NOT USE DUMB INVESTORS FOR SHARE TRADING> IT IS THE WORST TRADING PLATFORM EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss the one man band 754 club, he got some stick but this board was more interesting for the postings. Good rise last few days. HSBC is looking good.
My HL account got the dividend last week. Dumb Investor still yet to pay. They are a total joke. I highly recommend to move account away from Dumb Investor. It is such a bad service and real arrogance to bring in such a system.
Steve, thank you for the review. Interesting reading.
I have received compensation for late payment of my dividends on dumb investor. They only paid based on them not accepting liability of late payment. A long explanation cut short, dumb investor uses a third party company to deposit the dividends and then allocate to dumb investor individual accounts. I just could not get to what is the reason why they would do such a system that result in such delays in receipt of funds. I showed dumb investor Customer Service examples on other accounts from other providers that dividends received same day and no reason for weeks of delay. Compensation has been paid to me and a rather nice hamper sent as well. Actually quite happy with the compensation and complaint process, it took 3 months but Customer Service rep easy to discuss. It is just so sad that dumb investors is such a disaster. I have moved away from them all my holdings. I continue to own BARC shares, they are likely to take a (small) financial hit from this disaster.
Love it!
My HSBC dividends were paid 3 weeks late (July payment). I complained, they refused any idea of compensation. Was on the phone to Dumb Investor yesterday. 20 minutes to speak to a human, they 10 minutes into my complaint the line went dead. I called back, took 20 minutes to answer, then my phone battery went dead (too long on the phone!). Called back again, re stated my complaints, explained that many people are wanting too leave their service and moving over to a new provider. They said that is not the case and most people happy. I was with them for 20 years. Am so happy to get away from them....I called as one of my dividends went into my old account.....Dumb Investor is such a mess. Surely they will do something about it?
Perfect! Could not have said it better myself. Have changed broker already and my complaint from 2 months ago remains unanswered.
Hi Steve - interesting commentary. Thank you for posting.
Very easy to change accounts. DO NOT sell and re-buy for obvious reasons. Whoever you choose for your new stockbroker ask them to arrange the transfer of your existing ISA/Stockbroker holdings. They will arrange to transfer the shares, cash held and any pending dividends. I found the process very simple. Complete the form and sign. I did not even notify Barclays, everything got transferred over. ISA took about 30 days and broker account around 45 days. Barclays charges are now very high, and they have a very bad habit if not paying out the dividends for many days after they receive the funds. I think their customer requirement is to be stupid or naive. There is just no other way to say it. I have been a customer for 20 years. They just don't care. Am so fed up with complaining about my dividends being paid late when other accounts get credited without delay. My only outlet for my disappointment is this post....however, just bought more BARC shares as I think they are undervalued.........
As a stockbroker Barclays have completed lost any market edge they had. Their dividend payments are much slower than my other accounts. The charges are much higher. They paid dividends 2 weeks later than a direct competitor, I raised a complaint and got no where. They had my money for 2 extra weeks. I have closed my account and transferred my ISA and trading account to a better provider. Very sad as Trump would say!!!! That having been said, I bought some BARC shares at 1.86 a couple of days back. The bank itself must be undervalued. The stockbroking service is in free fall. Barclays itself will be fine.
Hi Liberalman - am up 20% since your last tip on BKG. Got a few more funds to invest. Where do you like at the moment? I know things go up and down but anyone that gets it right once you never know might get it right again :) Thanks for any thoughts.
Yes - I like GSK as well. Maybe a bit boring. Then again you could say HSBC is maybe a bit boring but I am loving it here :)
Am up 19% since last week when I bought BKG on the back of your post.....so keep the recommendations coming. Not sure I will invest in LRD, mainly as my investments funds are fully deployed.....good luck and great posting....
Hi Liberalmann - had a few pennies to invest so read your post and have gone off and bought some BKG. Been a great run on HSBC but happy to diversify with the dividends that I get from HSBC. Good luck to me. If they bounce like HSBC I will be very happy. Still heavily weighted on HSBC and can see this share (HSBC) being solid for next few years.
Just bought in at 2421. Good luck to me. I think is my first ever builder. Normally stick with the banks and had a nice run on HSBC and looking to diversify with the great dividends I get there.
As I watch HSBC share movement over the last few months, it looks like this share, at least in London, has become a proxy play on the cable rate. Up and down in tandem with GBP/USD movements.
Hi Robday - welcome to the problem. I think many people got the same thoughts. Some people believe in line graphs and if you do a line graph on this one £10 is looking close than £4.
