On December 1, 2020, the director of Frontera Eastern Georgia Ltd applied to the Ministry and asked for an environmental decision.
In 2007, the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of Georgia issued No. 76 (08.09.2006) State Environmental Expertise Report and Environmental Impact Permit for the disposal of oil and gas waste on the 12th block of Frontera Eastern Georgia Ltd.
Pursuant to Article 48 4 4 of the Environmental Assessment Code, a person who has been issued a relevant administrative-legal act in the field of EIA before January 1, 2018, is obliged to request an environmental decision by January 1, 2021. On the basis of the above-mentioned administrative-legal act, the Ministry shall issue an environmental decision through simple administrative proceedings, without the procedures defined for the issuance of an environmental decision by this Code.
With this in mind, a draft order of the Minister was prepared, according to which the environmental decision will be issued on the basis of the conclusion of the state ecological expertise No. 76 of 2006 and the operator will be obliged to ensure compliance with the conditions set by the environmental decision.
At the same time, the Order No. 1036 of the Minister of Environment Protection and Natural Resources of September 22, 2006 on Issuing Environmental Impact Permits to Frontera Eastern Georgia Ltd is repealed, however, the environmental decision Will be attached to the given decision.
