Much higher volume today than for a very long time. Trading update due Thursday next week, 17th. Some buying in beforehand perhaps?. I can see there may be some more Northwards movement short term, it's just a shame it took me to sell out before it has happened........but that is sods law and we all have to make our own individual decisions under our own individual circumstances at the time. It will be interesting what happens tomorrow; if this is a change in sentiment and if it will hold. The market is forward looking so is it expecting something and if so why hasn't it done so before now?. Does someone know something we don't?. Sep 17th is key, what is said about the outlook not just what has happened.

Good to see some positive movement for you left in. I am still looking on. Good luck
CM
May well be a rns tomorrow. Look at those 2 big buys at around 12.40. Could be director(s) buying in. Buyer may not have been able to get all the shares wanted in one transaction so had to do it over 2. Could be 2 institutional buys but unlikely 2 would buy the same number. Very interesting. No affect on share price. It was probably just waiting for me to sell. Will keep my eyes open.

RNS not released until after 4 p.m, so not much time for market to re-act. Purchase made on Friday. It is noteworthy though and I agree P. that it is worth keeping an eye out for more. Would this have made any difference to me selling had I delayed?; hmm, not sure. Interesting nonetheless. Stick by my comment that I should have sold out earlier but wish all well here.
Will keep BEG on my watchlist and won't rule out re-investing. Not sure it will be before the trading update next month.

No, you didn't influence me to sell P., I should have sold some time ago. Was hoping i didn't influence you to sell. i have been investing for many years and failed to keep to some basics. A rather expensive way to re-learn a lesson.
Don't worry about being negative. At least you did it with grace. We all need to be reminded of possible problems arising otherwise we are just burying our head in the sand. Too often on boards as soon as someone states something different to what posters want to read they are lambasted and insulted; at least it hasn't been like that here and your contributions have been valid and worth posting.
Personally, I don't have a problem with someone posting if they are not a share holder, so I would say don't let that hold you back. This board has been a respectful board despite differences which is proof of better investors; there has been no playground antics here. Long may it last. I expect to continue to look in and see how things are going.
At least i have some funds to invest elsewhere now, plus having sold out of TPG this afternoon. I shouldn't have invested there, didn't do my research. Should have listened to what my inner thoughts were telling me but sometimes a little fella in my head says "nah, it'll be fine mate, just do it!". Rarely if ever works.
Good luck

Perhaps surprisingly I have sold out today. Surprisingly because I should have sold out at around 7.5 p and taken a far smaller loss. This is another share where the price isn't re-acting to what appears good news, although now that I have sold out it will probably be the key for lift off. Just feel there are better opportunities out there and this has fallen more than enough from when I invested at around 8.25 p.
Good luck to all who remain in here. i can always re-invest.
Regards
CM
have joined you on the sidelines P. Should have sold out earlier but as you rightly said earlier there are many better opportunities out there on the market. I've taken a hefty loss, but feel I need to re-assess things and I can always re-invest here if I want to. Probably key to the share price rising now. I had briefly thought about waiting until Monday, but that is easy to do time and again.........just one more day. 1.9 p of dividend isn't worth waiting for especially as on ex divi date the share price is likely to fall by that much. Not sure anything positive enough will come out of the September trading update.

Good luck P. A small loss is better than a progressively larger loss which is where I am having invested at 108 p.. Only 900 shares but it all adds up. I should have sold out at around 95p but the drip, drip, drip has kept me in. £9 a penny doesn't sound a lot but it adds up. May join you on the sidelines.
CM
I understand and respect your views Portswigger, but a little surprised that you are waiting for the 1.9 p a share dividend to be paid out before selling up, when the share price has fallen so much more than the dividend will be. And it may fall by more than another 1.9 p before then, plus when the share goes ex div the share price is likely to fall further, if hopefully only briefly.
I pretty much agree with your thoughts about the agm report although I think we may find revenue is down on the same period from last year regarding the first half. Hopefully that will not be a surprise to the market and would have been anticipated.
Not sure what you mean Wigan is in a shambles. Not sure it is bad P.R, just the way of the world. Wigan may go the same way as Bury f.c and like my home team (as was) Maidstone Utd., but they re-invented themselves and the World is still spinning.
No, I can't see where the demand is coming from for BEG either at present and the trend is not with us at present. Keep thinking things must change shortly, but I have been thinking that for months whilst seeing my investment dwindle. I am not emotionally attached to BEG and torn between what Jim Slater would have said, finding a good company and sticking with it through thick and thin and Naked Trader saying be ruthless and have a strict stop loss. Both have their merits.
Frustrated investor?, hmm, that's at least 2 of us and very likely many more.

Looks like market is looking ahead beyond all the trials and tribulations insolvencies will likely bring. Rightly or wrongly.
Pretty sure Naked Trader will have sold out by now although not shown on his site. We have to make our own decisions of course. Any gains/losses mount up over time. I think I would rather have had an outright profit warning than this persistent drip every day. Seems like it is constantly raining here when there is sunshine in the next valley.

I would suggest the closing share price is 86 p not 88 p as shown which is a UT trade. That means the share price has fallen again. Watch out for tomorrows open price showing down 2 p.
Normally by now I would have sold out of a share which has fallen by more than 20% but this has been a constant drip, drip and I can see no reason why this should fall EVERY day just about. The share price graph is extremely poor, probably are worse ones out there but apart from companies who have given profit warnings or are on the edge of collapse I can't think of many. I would have thought any bad news would have been already in the price including the fact that the business is going to be weighted towards the second half of the year once the government help for businesses is withdrawn.
I very much agree with ThumbsUp analysis although I think a share price of 140 p + in 12-18 months may be being a little optimistic, but who knows?, nice thought. I can probably wait that long and with interest rates close to 0% it would still pay off waiting. Perhaps BEG is viewed as being fully or over valued by the market, in which case I wonder what the fair value is?
We need something to kick the volume up. But what is going to change the share price direction, not for just one day but change the trend to positive. And can ANYONE explain the tiny share volumes?, I never have understood those; it must be some balancing of trades somehow as nobody is going to trade such small numbers and then pay commission for doing so otherwise they would be paying the brokers!. Maybe some code between market makers. Too many trades done by algorythms these days, some computer deciding things perhaps.
Patience?, yes in bucket loads. What do they say about investing?, don't invest with money you can't afford to lose. It's just a begger when we see so many shares rising and BEG falling, especially with the business they are involved with at this moment in time.
As always gla.

Very valid points.
BEG have said in their latest trading update that business will be weighted to the 2nd half of the year for those very reasons. It may well be this has further to fall before the trend changes. Personally I am not laughing. If I was going to invest more it would be on the basis of strength not weakness.
Short term not particularly good, medium, longer term better. And yes, what the government do or don't do is key.
"Those in the know are offloading", yes but I would have thought they would have done so by now.

You would think that if there wasn't much interest in a share price the price would be pretty stable. Do the market makers need to make a market for such a share?. There isn't massive buying nor off loading. We know Beg can be volatile but for this length ot time in the economic climate?.So many trades are algorithms now it seems, makes me wonder what chance we pi have?. Previous reading/study would suggest that if we believe in a company with things adding up, not wishing in a wind, that we stick things out through thick and thin. That's traditional investing though and I'm not sure that applies anymore. It seems investing now belongs to the Donald Trump school of investment, just make it up and if you say it often enough people are bound to believe. That's a general comment, not aimed at anybody at all. Frustration yes, regardless of how much or little invested. Things will change, sometime. GLACM
Anon - do you see the bubbles?. I'm already underwater. Have been since I bought in. Don't fully know why. Just lack of interest pretty much along with other insolvency companies it seems.
CM
.................has been on a downward trend since I bought in portswigger..........never mind it being May!. Same with TPG. I should have stayed out of the market, but hey ho.
Good luck all
CM
Not sure I can help you much. You must do what you think right regarding selling etc. I think we need to see evidence of new business won. We may get a better idea of how things are and are going to be in the next trading update in September by which time the economy may look very different from what it looks like now. This is going to be a slow burner.
Good luck
CM
Have gone into administration today. Wonder who the administrators will be?.
Portswgger - Begbies are speaking the truth and it's been known for a long time, many years. Many Companies have been on life support and are zombie companies, the living dead.
Companies look to the likes of Begbies to try and find the best way out of their dilemma, not to be "put down".
CM
Thanks for the post Theosus. Interesting read and relevant. Lets hope for a better week.
CM
Maybe Theosus, but the afternoon is a LONG time foe BEG to hold up.
Not sure this will get on many investors radar until share price is above 100 p and there has been a change in the trend. It may not be until after the next trading update in September. Any Northwards movement is welcome though.
CM
I could see no particular reason for yesterdays fall. I have re read the latest financial statement including the outlook and could see nothing negative. The fact that the company is increasing its' dividend is a positive. It was stated that the results for this year would be weighted to the 2nd half, but the market knew that and should have been reflected in the share price before now. Is there a big seller in the background?, don't know. Took me until just now to find the latest trades, lse trades stopped being shown early afternoon yesterday.
I don't have a lot invested here and will probably just leave things alone to see how they pan out. I think this may be one for the medium/longer term not short term.
Lets see what today brings.
