They can't do that, since that gives a signal. Anyway, as to what it is, if it's not a placing it must be something that TW might have got wind of and written about, which mustn't be made public without putting whatever it is at risk, otherwise why do it? Historically I'm afraid it has been placings, and I assume they do it to prevent the price from falling during the forward-selling, but it also prevents TW (and HSR) from tipping it, which in turn prevents people from buying in to a share that will drop to placing price. One positive possibility is that it's details about the MoM leaving, to discourage TW from commenting on it publicly, which has happened. That would be consistent with a timing of last weekend as well.
