'Defensive share...'
Earthling, I am used to minute by minute trading chat, not static once per week postings. This is why I tend to repeat the questioned wording.
Asiamet being a defensive stock: First this was just a little lunchtime fun, while watching the Dow & FTSE dive, while ARS holding 4p:))
Recessions in past decades taught me that at first its large-/ midcap shares that are hammered. Such as Kaz this summer (with their 55% minus), or TCG and many other Ftse shares this autumn, such as those poor ba1tards from Asos.
These tumbling whales seem to take that much attention, that the market completely ignores smallcap stocks for a while. Thats the time when we can consider many smallcap shares as being defensive. Of course only positive shares with an active story, like BMN, Gcm, etc.
If the US selloff doesnt stop in January, expect more bluechips (banks, insurance, homebuilders) to enter the purge. And in the following stage the crash would spill over to smallcap shares. If this starts, then expect even super-shares to be hammered, such as Bushvelds, Solg, etc.
Where does this leave Asiamet?
ARS has already been 'tested' and fallen from a cliff this summer, with 70% down, from their 11p range. Right? Also, I suspect, someone has done 'forward selling' from 10p that generated fresh capital. Today ARS is an inbreed share, purely controlled by company directors, insiders, and close financial allies. And probably some holders connected to the Indonesian government. Google the list of holders, and you'll be surprized about some of the names on the list :))
IMO any further downfall is limited to the level where institutions like JP Morgan keep holding. Is it 3.50? Is it 2.50p? We dont know yet.
What we do know is that, like in the past, the management has a variety of tools to manipulate things. They can for eg suddenly pullout a joint venture contract, and make the Sp spike to 8p. Or they could even ask for a temporary 6-month AIM suspension, if the market gets to rough...
In the end 'they' will be using this (undesired) weakness to flush out weak holders and collect more cheap shares. And probably soon announce a sudden new happy 5% stakeholder.
Anyeay, just my worthless opinion.
I hope everyone is finding shelter, from the main market crash!!
