Strategists say there's more trouble ahead for the stock market which is experiencing its worst December since 1931.
Stocks plunged on fears of a recession, and the Nasdaq was temporarily in bear market territory, a 20 percent decline from its recent highs.
The Cboe Volatility Index temporarily jumped above 30, its highest since the major market sell-off in February of this year.
Strategists blame recession worries brought on by a tone-deaf Fed and continuing fears that trade wars and slowing global growth could sink the U.S. economy and chisel away at corporate profits

4M sold... Likely based on algorithmus, Daisan. For me, todays intraday equation was: If 44.25 was not regained, and if 43.75 was breached, then instant signal blinking on your traders desk confirming that it will go to 41.80p. Whether it was Barclays capital, or whoever on his desk.

Endion, thanks for clarifying about the volume. And fair enough, Daisan! I absolutely agree with many on here, that investors on the sidelines could get caught out ...by some sudden news. So as with other shares, I decided to keep one core in, while unloading the other 70%. (Endion, I normally just use the basic chart on lse.co.uk. That second top on Thursday, with failure to surpass 48.50, has been a sign for bearish reversal - for whatever news reasons it has been. IMO probably just profit takers because of the US shakeout.)
