the sixpence in the pudding was a genial idea

we all knew of the sixpence only the finder would win

this is known as tradition

mum made the plum pudding herself

we children ate very slowly to avoid swallowing the small coin

so for the same outlay mum had made a pudding that lasted 2 as long as a shop made

later after the piggy bank was opened the coin ( it may have been a threepence )

was exchanged for normal coin
