While the media and labour keep wailing about energy prices it may be Noting that oil prices are now 30% or more below their peak and not far short of where they were they were at the beginning of the year. This will pteee de nr an ingesting conundrum to the new Govt as very soon price caps are way above where they should be. Also energy suppliers should be scrutinised wrt mix gas is only a small part of the mix and renewable and nuclear have not seen an increase in cost. This Govt needs to take the pose industry behind the woodshed. Whist they are at it keep an eye on supermarket profits.
I think that's a fair observation. Prop desks often take positions on "in house" research. The herd at the moment is negative on anything bricks and mortar because they are getting sucked into the negative media hype. In reality owning a house is still one of the most aspirational things you can achieve in this country and people top what they can to get on the housing ladder and once on there it is the last thing they will give up. This simple reality escapes most of the current crop of City "scribblers"
Who are the puppet masters above ?
You are right of course. fv Giving too much credence to the irrational and misleading arguments put forward by minority pressure groups is largely to blame for our current predicament on this country. People are rightly terrified about what may hit them in the months to come but will do well to be grateful to these lobby groups in the success they have had in scaring successive Govts off perusing energy self sufficiency. Haven't heard much from the the Green lobby lately, must be coincidence
The Scottish Government uses each tidal opportunity to drive the ship further on to the rocks and been doing so for the last fifteen years. It is a daily reminder Tony’s all south of the Border what would be in store for us even we elected a similarly incompetent administration. It is what the public saw in Corbin. Independence is it’s only allure for the many that keep Irvin power having not understood the consequences. Banks with head offices in Scotland currently would not think twice about relocating in the unlikely event of a successful referendum as no doubt would many other businesses.
Outlets like the Guardian aren't known for their grasp of scientific fact. Fracking to them is the work of the devil and they'd rather see power cuts and blame the Govt for not doing enough ie never let a good crisis go to waste when there are political points to score. I hope this Govt has the necessary to resume fracking
As ever there's no shortage of "experts" trying to call the top of the housing market. There's a shortage of all types of housing and until that's addressed in a meaningful way they are little more than Cassandras
A matter of time before supermarkets will Shaun have to embrace the BOGOF approach to shift surplus stock. The price hikes we have seen are excessive. We do well to keep a weather eye on supermarket profits this year for confirmation they have screwed those that can least afford it
No it got rescued because if it hadn't been it would have taken most of the banking sector with it. LLoy was coerced into "rescuing" the crock of that was HBOS and forced tp write down shedloads of assets by the the then FSA under Adair Turner at the bottom of the market. Coincidence that G Brown oversaw this and our sale of gold when he was Chancellor. Lloy was then used by the govt as a cash cow to prop uo the economy post crash.
no because the liberal media left have decided to run with with the half baked hysterical nonsense put out by environmental lobbyists
This is the dividend we all get to share from our elected leaders appeasement of the Green lobby regardless of the near term consequences. Sure, greenhouse gasses are an issue that needs dealing with. A gradual and phased transition would have prevented this. Biden can plead with ABS all he likes but oil producers like Saudi, Kuwait and the UAE generally don't like Democrats with their woke agendas The US voted for higher energy prices when they elected Biden
Talking of traders, Its a good day to mess with the markets today as many of the City"s finest will be at Ascot plying the girls from the office with sjampain. Clients won't be there as accepting entertainment is now forbidden by the FCA. From past experience many will already be flying on the train journey there.
