the first lithium ion batteries were very expensive before moving down the cost curve dramatically solid state will still employ lithium ( and i reiterate your long live lithium with a massive shout from myself.)
I don't think people have totally grasped the amounts that are going to be required in the next few years as it isn't just cars/buses using lithium in batteries it's everything from the mower to the hedge cutter chainsaw phones hairdryers just literally anything and everything electrical that can be transported and used elsewhere will have a charging option. Not to mention the future of aviation and the like the possibilities will be endless.
So yes long live lithium ( as it will) but also look to the future evolution:-)

Yes indeed mobile phones were not affordable when they first came to market same with computers now they are ten a penny .
I think possibly the clever people are doing the sums with Solid State and refining to make affordable on mass scale start at a small scale get it right then scale up.
