Charlie-1 appraisal well was designed as a step-out appraisal of a well drilled in 1991 by BP Exploration Alaska called
"Malguk-1 which encountered oil shows with elevated resistivity and mud gas readings over multiple horizons during drilling but was not tested due to complications towards the end of operations, which resulted in lack of time before the close of the winter drilling season.
"Charlie-1 will intersect seven stacked prospects, four of which are interpreted as oil-bearing in Malguk-1 and are therefore considered appraisal targets.
The results from the Logging While Drilling phase of the program are expected to be announced after Total Depth has been reached and initial analyses have been completed, scheduled for early April...source latest 88 Energy RNS

European markets head for higher open after US stimulus agreed
European markets are expected to open higher Wednesday after U.S. senators agreed to the Trump administration’s massive economic rescue bill, unlocking $2 trillion worth of funds.

London’s FTSE is seen opening 14 points higher at 5,007, Germany’s DAX is seen 9 points higher at 9,709 and France’s CAC is expected to open 6 points higher at 4,248, according to IG data.

White House official, Eric Ueland said early on Wednesday that U.S. senators and White House officials have reached an agreement on the massive stimulus package to mitigate the economic hit from the coronavirus outbreak.

“We have a deal,” White House official Eric Ueland told reporters. His comment was echoed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who said on Twitter, “At last we have a deal.”

God speed 88E and their race to test ahead of the spring melt.

But as 88’s ice melts in late April people will start to grasp the size of their and Premier’s opportunity.
It’s at that point they will be checking out “The Neighbours” ie Pantheon and then should discover two big much more established discoveries at Talitha .

Both much closer to infrastructure and with more established substance geologically, geophysically logistically and much stronger economics.

A bunch of flowers may be heading to 88e for their successful efforts in getting an exploration well drilled in these difficult times west of the pipeline and a second bigger bunch to Premier who are likely to get the message out to their institutional shareholders, brokers and analysts that they have found something very exciting but Pantheon have something much sweeter.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed they can test the well across all the zones before the ice starts to soften. Post yesterday’s presentation we need the multiple stacked reservoir concept demonstrated and turn the geophysical concept into an oily reality.

Oil prices climb as US ramps up economic support measures
Oil prices rose on Tuesday on hopes that the United States will reach a deal soon on a $2 trillion coronavirus aid package which could blunt the economic impact of the outbreak and in turn support oil demand.

Sydney — Asian stocks rebounded sharply on Tuesday as the US Federal Reserve’s promise of bottomless dollar funding eased painful strains in financial markets, even if it could not soften the immediate economic hit of the coronavirus.
While Wall Street seemed unimpressed, investors in Asia were encouraged enough to lift E-Mini futures for the S&P 500 by 3% and Japan’s Nikkei 6.2%. If sustained it would be the biggest daily rise for the Nikkei since late 2016.

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan jumped 4.2%, to more than halve Monday’s drop. Shanghai blue chips gained 2.7%.
Europe also looked a shade brighter as Eurostoxx 50 futures climbed 3.3% and FTSE futures 3.1%.

US stimulus should most probably pass tomorrow “We’re very close,” Trump said. “The Democrats want to get there,” and so do Republicans, he said. “I don’t think anybody has a choice.”The bill, which currently totals about $1.8 trillion, would include direct payments to individuals and families (on average about $3,000 for a family of four), expanded unemployment benefits and a massive loan program to tide over small businesses.
It would be by far the largest such measure in U.S. history, equivalent to roughly half the current federal budget.

BP Alaska Malguk-1 well drilled 1991

Charlie-1 will intersect seven stacked prospects, four of which are interpreted as oil-bearing in Malguk-1
The Malguk-1 discovery drilled by BP in 1991. This well discovered but never tested 251 feet of light oil pay in turbidite sands in the Torok formation, within the recently emerging Brookian play. There is also a considerable upside in the shallower Schrader Bluff formation which has yet to be explored in a play similar to the Pikka/Horseshoe trend.
Seismic capabilities in today's world has moved on considerably since 1991 and the remote visualisation of the subsurface has advanced with the processing capabilities of computers, so is incomparably better than in the 1990s maybe BP just couldn't see enough potential back in the 90s? Charlie-1 therefore considered appraisal targets estimated at 1.6 billion barrels of oil (480 million barrels net to 88E).

Under the terms of the SPA, Premier Oil will pay the full costs of an appraisal well up to a total of US$23 million to test the reservoir deliverability of the Malguk-1 discovery.
