That said Mali and therefore the junta are reliant on its gold industry as it's the biggest contributor to the country's GDP.eithout gold sales the junta can't maintain their balance of payments and FX reserves. This in my view as an investor in a gold mining country limits the risk of corruption and state interference other than setting tax rates.

The aged electricity infrastructure in Mali makes me wonder if the bod have any intention of retrofitting a solar plant at Yanfolila given the successful implementation an the Kouroussa build
