RE: Kouroussa financing...27 Apr 2021 16:28
Thanks Visitor.
I'm not to bothered about the grade, it is what it is, most miners go through phases of stripping back either out of poor judgement or unforeseen circumstances. It's all about capacity for me. The costs of running the circuit, maintenance etc etc, are pretty much fixed apart from the obvious variables of wear and tear. HUM's Achilles heel for me, whilst we are in a stage of processing lower grade is the overall processing capacity, maybe with an additional 20-30% capacity up their sleeves they might have been able to flatten the curve a little bit.
Maybe back in the day with the known historic numbers on Yani, it may have seemed like a sufficient size as a starter unit to fund further development. Who knows, I certainly wasn't around then. But I do hope they factor in additional capacity into Korrousa or look at increasing Yanfolila post the Korrousa build. That said, it is good news that they're investing in storage, on top of the extra stripping, it certainly looks like they're preparing to avoid a repeat.
