Anyone think it would be wise to sell these shares before xmas results are announced?

Has anyone got any relevant or interesting news about mks :-)

My thinking is that this correction is not yet over- I've got the shed doors open and ready to fill it to the rafters if we see Vod at �1.90 ish, which it has that momentum about it at the moment. I also have to be happy if I'm wrong and have to sit and watch it set sail from here. Have owned this many times- always been a steady but good stock, with the divi back-up of course if you have to hold for a few years. Good luck all!

I think going large is being a tad provocative with his( or her) share price estimate! however, I have said before that the massively over- inflated dow jones is a risk to us all. The fact is that MKS share price has been falling constantly in an era when the ftse has been at record highs. So it looks like we may be seeing an end to that possibly? Some may say traditional businesses could be a safer haven when the stuff hits the fan- we shall see. The other issue is the dividend which is an interesting argument- a good and generous divi is worth nowt( as we say in Yorkshire) if the share price is constantly being eroded. We need Archie to do his stuff and soon!!!

This share has had a stellar 3months, putting on about a �1, which has been more than welcome as it was starting to become a worry- how much further is the big question, can we see a fiver?

As the crowd gather outside the stricken building; hey!!! what's that? awe my gord..... it's Archy the gordame superhero( cheers and screams!!!) He swoops down like lightning and saves many people from the over priced food and miserable men's slippers. Another job done for the sake of humanity! Sorry just trying to lighten the mood, what with the weather and the share price!

The facts are, that as we all know very well that the clothing side is the spanner in the works. The high street is changing and will change forever. Many of MKS loyal customers are shall we say quite mature and the sad truth( I say this as a mature person) we need replacing! which means attracting younger folk to shop. You only have to look at the meteoric rise of Amazon to see where a lot of people are spending their more and more harder to earn coin- all online I might add. So the big question: does Archie have a magic silver bullet?- don't think so! He and all staff will graft damned hard to try and keep the ship upright; never mind sail off into lovely new and calm waters. We only have to look at the share price slide which has worryingly coincided with the ftse reaching record levels to see this. So it is only for really brave people to keep ploughing more money into the shares.

I rang Barclays yesterday to ask where my RDSB divi is,( it was paid to them 10 days ago). First person I spoke to said they didn't have a clue; which in fairness was honest! Second person said that because Shell is such a big company it takes so much longer now to get the payment out. Wondered about using this( LSE) service

Thanks for the suggestions- just looking for a dealing only service at a fair price. I guess lse might be worth a try? tenner per trade.

Vod is starting to look rather tempting again! On a different matter entirely: can any of you good folk recommend a good share dealing service? Been with Barc but not happy now!

Sorry to change the subject as to whether ladies nickers are coming down or going up, I just wondered if any of you good people can recommend a good share dealing service? I have been with Barclays for donkeys years but since they have changed it to "smart investor" and made things the opposite of smart inc not paying my dividends to me I feel it is time for change. I have seen a company: 212 which amazingly offers free share dealing.....sounds a bit too good to be true! PS I just bought in again recently at �3.22- hoping for a good xmas.

Do we have more pressing concerns now with the political landscape shifting so quickly: will Tories do their usual implosion and start a leadership challenge? JC and his party, who were political wright-offs a few days ago, now have a mass of support after a hugely successful campaign and could end up running the country! If so NG is high on the agenda to re-nationalise- what then for the share price? Sundayboy may well have got out at the right moment; only time will tell

Anyone think that we could be re-visiting the 330's soon?

I've owned shares in this great company for many years and I honestly believe it should be core stock in any portfolio. If you look at it's performance over say the last 5 or 6 years, you'll see that, ok it's no racing car; but racing cars often crash! It offers a very decent dividend and more than anything else( taking in to consideration the usual stock market fluctuations) it's one that you can really just forget about- assuming that we're all going to need a bit of electricity now and again! Do you mind me asking where you will be investing the proceeds from NG?

My own thinking is to start buying in again if we get to about 1500p, which in the current climate is very possible, then just keep topping up if she goes lower- just hope it doesn't go straight back to the 16's. It's all good fun!

Ftse could be due a shake out- if these drop to the 15's I'll be taking my wheel barrow to the stock brokers!!! Fantastic company!

Price could rise strongly as we get towards the big divi.....what will happen to share price following the ex div date though?

I've been thinking about buying some Next shares, as it is possible that they have been over-sold. My main concern at the moment is the FTSE and Dow could easily have a correction at any time, as they have both gone north now for a good period, but who knows? FTSE could do 8000! Also can't see any shift in consumer spending; back to fashion from cakes and coffee! Maybe Next could join in and put some great coffee shops in store and use up some retail space? So my own thinking is wait for £36-which risks missing out if the boat suddenly sets sail.....

Can you mention the café situation that we've discussed please Costa- must be missing out on some profits there. Also ask him to guarantee the divi for at least 10 years!!!
