There seems to be a big misunderstanding from many as to how the stock market works. It is highly unlikely that jobbers will want to fill their boots with anything. Firstly each firm will deal with hundreds of different shares and second they are in competition. It is possible as they are principals that they will sometimes run a short or long book but most counters are equalised at the end of the day. Hence some of the UT transactions Certainly with algorhythms Lloyds Bank is far too big for jobbers to take positions. Much of the deals of a FTSE 100 company will not be through the excahnge anyway.
