Hi Mayfield. Looks like this board is going to get heated again so hopefully you see this post amongst all the squabbling! So that will be 11 slot pairs at say, an average of £20 million a pair. If they get the company for £50million that is an absolute bargain and that's not factoring in any of the other slots assuming those at BHX MAN etc carry some value? It would appear the share price hasn't reflected any of the value in the Heathrow slots. Is that a fair assumption? Thanks for all your input. You are by a country mile the most informative poster on here.
What a humble chap you are Carpking - it's never too late!!!! :)
Spot on lland. What Flybe have in terms of slots is gold to the likes of Virgin and they have the opportunity to have a fleet of 78 planes for next to nothing. Even if run at a loss, Flybe could be a bolt-on to make Virgin's international operations more profitable. One thing for sure is the demise of the Flybe brand, which is probably just as well as it has been well and truly trodden into the ground.
Plenty to be excited about, we have the Sunday press to look forward to and then the notifications of major shareholdings. I think it's safe to say, Monday is going to be another game changing day. Can't wait!
But this isn't AIM?
As many of us suspected, it appears the market completely misunderstood the value of Flybe's Heathrow slots, thinking that they carried no value, when in actual fact the value (once grandfathered) is massive, especially if an existing Heathrow operator has European routes which it can switch to those slots, thus owning and being able to sell these slots worth £120million (which is probably a conservative estimate).
It goes to show, markets are not always efficient. Particular note to the one shorter earlier in the week who was banging on about the market always being right.. Well, all I have to say to that is a quote from a certain well known cricket commentator by the name of Bumble...... WAALLOOOOOOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am invested, but am not expecting a huge bid.
blah blah blah. The thing is, we were all wrong because no one ever thought Virgin would be interested. So much waffle has been chucked around this board over the past few weeks. The company IS a total disaster, hence the bombed out share price. It's of no use to you and me; it's value is to another airline or PE house who can restructure it.
As in he's finally left the house, or sold his shares?!
There hasn't been five minutes without a new post from him and now we are up 50% and he's nowhere to be seen?!?!!
Well congratulations to all who have sold or have held on. I am still in the game and have almost covered my losses from holding this share almost 4 years ago!!! This has always been that one duff share in red which has tarnished my Morningstar schedule. There are a couple of times I have doubted myself and I won't lie, I have lost sleep over the past couple of weeks, but I have learnt that sometimes you have to trust your gut instinct. This is one of those cases, where the market got it wrong. For me, it's always been about the value of Flybe to other parties, NOT what the public have valued it at (ie. the current market cap)
Stobart absolutely 100% have to be interested with the company now about a quarter, if not a fifth of the price of what they were prepared to pay earlier this year.
Ahhh, a beautiful read! and "one of" the parties.
So the cat is clearly out of the bag, but we haven't had an RNS. I would have thought they are under obligation to inform the market of the news. Now, have they not released an RNS because they are nearing a deal? Talks have obviously been on-going for some time as we know they were in talks 10 days ago, at least.
Yep, I think we will get an RNS today. The only thing stopping this rising further is the fact that no-one has a clue how this share is going to be valued by an airline. We all know how it is valued by the market! Once we have an indication of a bid price, then it's game on...or not.
Oh god, best post of the day!!
Gotta love him. It goes to show what we know, not once has Virgin been mentioned on here!!
Scully - you don't have to respond to every comment on the board!! that's the whole reason this board is clogged up with utter horse****. Just ignore or filter them.
I have never seen such pathetic childish behaviour on an internet forum, as some of the comments that have been posted this afternoon. Unfortunately, this petty squabbling deters people with more constructive comments from posting.
Seriously guys, grow up.
