Re warrants on buyout ... I went through a buyout and in that case the acquiring company paid employees in the company being bought for their share options ... i.e. they weren't just cancelled. That was an amicable takeover where the buying company obviously wanted the key employees to stay ...

I guess not everyone is a speculator - if offered some 'free money' via company warrants a lot of employees might just tick the box saying yes please sell them for me and let me have the profit ..??
