Coolbreeze, my thoughts on ITV. The company stinks right now. Terrible leadership for 5 years. Dimwit Dame who does very little. If we can oust her after the AGM in two weeks then this has the potential to go right back up to £1.20. There is still money to be made in TV but more in the production side than in advertising. Pay walls are the future of ITV and small digital platforms are not the future. Content sharing with the big boys and then hosting from their platforms will bring in more revenue and secure ITV's future long term.
This is a high risk share. Future is very uncertain. Could go back to £1.30 in next few months but no guarantees.
I am the board's most recommended poster. The most accurate. The most respected. Ignore the people who foolow who will try to knock me. They are jealous.
Is it too much to ask Nige not to spam the forum?
Can we create a rule going forward? No posting of worthless broker over evaluations unless of course you post your own comment or analysis as to why you think the broker merits raising their target?
CAROLYN OUT
My real reason for wanting McCall out? She is ducking useless. If you were a financial advisor I would be calling for your resignation also!
Lets see 18 months ago I told everyone to sell up here and move on. That they stood to double their money elsewhere when the recovery post covid kicked in. You advised people to hold. Those people who listened to you and have held like you have lost out big time. The false ITV recovery happened. SP went up to 130, and you still told people to hold despite the fact that many of us were saying the recovery was built on shaky foundations and was pure luck. Again if people listened to you they failed to take profit at the right time. Then weeks before the disastrous results I again repeated that this share was due a massive correction. You repeated the £2 lie and told everyone to hold. Again readers of this board who were duped by Nige lost out.
I can see value in ITV now. I am capable of seeing both negative and positives with ITV. Nige is a bare faced liar and ramper who only wants to recover his lost fortune here. His break even is more like £2.20 when you factor in lost opportunity cost and inflation but he will lie and tell you that shares bought 5 years ago at £1.70 only need £1.60 to return a profit.
Carolyn OUT.
Nige honestly give us all a break from your nonsensical ramblings. The other place needs its village eeejiot more than here.
Nige any chance you can go back to your board where you are all calling each other children for bickering all the time? We are cleaning up here and really do not need the potty mouthed posters continuing petty feuds. We have more important issues here such as getting Carolyn OUT
I notice you failed to mention my advice from a few weeks back though. When I told everyone invested here that 120+ was great price and most likely to be the 12 month high. To get out whilst the going was still good. You and your sidekicks did nothing but fling hatred at me for urging people to sell.
Boltok you may seek to rubbish me but the stats do not lie. I am the poster with the most recommends here. I predicted the share price crash after the results. I predicted this share would not recover to pre covid highs and advised people here at the lowest point during lockdown to move to other shares to benefit from a full recovery.
I am now asking everyone to vote Carolyn Out in order to save the future of this company.
Yes ditch the viewers who want high quality entertainment for free. This should not be allowed to become a public service broadcaster.
If viewers are not prepared to sit through adverts then they will have to stump up the cash to watch Corrie and Emmerdale.
We need a CEO who is not British who can see ways to maximise financial return for investors here without feeling duty bound to provide the public with free entertainment.
Yes ignore the advice of people who were telling you to buy oil and gas two years ago. Shell at sub £10 and today they are at a 2 year high and racing up to £22.
The direction that I want ITV to take has been outlined on here many times. Strategic partnerships with other broadcasters around the world where content and formats is sold direct. Where the big guys come to ITV asking for them to make shows purely for their platforms rather than for UK audiences. Ditch all the silly Britbox and ITVX which are barely breaking even.
Then paywalls. Start charging premium rates for some content. More exclusive and spin off episodes which can only be accessed by paying. More subscription services. Drama and sport put behind paywalls. Only cheap live content and news left on free to air where the ad breaks will consist of promotions for ITV premium channels.
Massive overhaul is needed here. The Dame has cashed in over 10million in shares and is more preoccupied planning her Caribbean retirement than turning ITV around
VOTE Carolyn OUT
Based on the fact that it has dropped 50p since the highs of last summer. This is not yet the lowest that the share price can go to. 2020 showed it will go to 50p.
Whilst the Dame remains the value will drain from this company
Vote Carolyn OUT.
ITV could still lose another 20p. Even as a holder I fail to see the "no brainer". Adding at todays level still comes with huge risk. This is a company in dire need of real direction which the current Board cannot provide.
Carolyn OUT
The "city brokers" have targeted ITV since Adam Crozier's departure because of the BOD's indecisiveness and then poor choice of replacement CEO. They delayed too long on naming a successor and then went for the candidate that ticked diversity boxes rather than business acumen.
Change the weak leadership and the city brokers playing havoc with the share price here will move on to another poorly managed FTSE100 company.
Jed the likes of you have been arguing that this share price was manipulated for 5 years. Manipulated and yet the nefarious elites that you conspiracy believers want to believe are manipulating the price have failed to launch a takeover. Wake up
This share price is falling because of the CEO and the BOD disastrous decisions. Time to axe them. The majority of investors here are sick of the losses and want change at the top. 5 years of sliding share price is grounds to sack the leadership.
Polite, professional emails only please people. This is out in the public domain with just a simple search.
carolyn.mccall@itv.com
Please nothing that constitutes harassment.
This is a place where we can have an effect. The individuals here only have small holdings of shares in the company.
But there is high visibility with this forum. ITV employees read it. Hopefully the fund managers holding the majority of shares read it.
Possibly moves are underway amongst the big holders to bring about change and naturally they will be looking to maximise their own gains by buying in now before Carolyn is toppled.
If we could somehow up the pressure here. Initiate a full on investors revolt. Draw some of the attention of the fund managers here
Lets start with just a email campaign. Get a list of board members emails. Blanket email them telling them you are unhappy at the performance and that Carolyn needs to go and company needs more direction. The 1 billion is too high a price for C4. As somebody pointed out ITV is only 3x that valuation but with a much higher revenue. £300 million or below for C4.
Lets try to draw attention here. It is one of the top results on a google search for ITV share price. It is the place for shareholder activism.
Send the Dame her P45.
If only the big investors were talking to each other about voting against the Pantomime Dame and the board. For once most of the forum members here are in agreement. Even most of Carolyn's apologists (Nige, Janus and co) are now turning.
Investors rebellion at the AGM. Has to be the only way out of this mess.
I fail to see strategic gains. 1 billion investment that will never pay for itself. Markets look like they agree
£3.7 million remuneration package last year despite wiping billions off the value of the company. She should walk. Not even wait around for the AGM.
I imagine very few suitors for C4 will meet the government criteria for impartiality, probity etc. Most US corporations are openly political and will be barred from ownership.
One horse race. Lots of handshakes and s****y restaurant dinners with the Dame to follow. 1 billion in private investors money to go into the pockets of friends in the media industry. Everyone will want their kickbacks.
If you do not want to be paying for the media industry bigwigs parties and summer holidays VOTE CAROLYN OUT.
Jed I am one who says ITV is too small to compete with the big US streamers. It should not be looking to become as bloated and large. It needs to stay small and nimble. Good at what it does with a higher rate of return for investors. Taking on a billion in debt to take a barely profitable media outlet off the government books makes no business sense at all. In effect us ITV shareholders will be the ones gifting the owners and CEO's who profit from the proceeds of the sale millions in free money.
Thank you corrupt government and the Dame for colluding and taking money away from investors to hand to your millionaire chums and sycophants in the media industry who already own mansions and yachts.
Vote the Dame out. Stop this redistribution of investors money to rich media luvvies who will squander it on vanity projects.
I myself am thinking of starting a media production company and applying for some of the proceeds. I am in the process of writing a drama on a group of multiracial non binary people who start a community on a Caribbean island. I just need a few million to bum around on the beach for a year with a film crew. Just need to tick all the diversity boxes so it fits with C4 output.
Going public with the intention to buyout C4
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10689993/ITV-plotting-takeover-Channel-4.html
They need to take on 1 billion more in debt to finance an acquisition of a channel that barely breaks even. Defies logic and it must be politicians calling in favours. Asking the Dame to take on C4 even though it is not in the interest of shareholders at ITV.
Forget any foreign bid for ITV now. With C4 it will be too closely tied to public service broadcasting and no private company will want that burden.
Sorry the free thinking and lefty journalists at C4 are what the government wants gone.
