The AISC HAS to rise in later stages of a mining project, otherwise you are leaving money in the ground. Very crudely, when the AISC eventually creeps up to near the gold price, then you stop mining because no profit is coming out. We all knew that Douta's AISC would not be the same as Segilola's insanely low AISC, but in this high gold environment it still makes for very comfortable profits for years. And the number of relatively low AISC years will increase with ongoing exploration.
I agree with those who say this news should attract the interest of bigger fish - are we ready for that?
