Richard I think the issue labour has is they despise the blue collar working voters. They consider they bigots as Gordan Brown said famously. The fact labour opposed the very gentle and weak welfare reform of the Tories jarred with working blue collar voters. The biggest single gripe ppl have is about layabouts living off the state paid for by their taxes.
