When I worked directly for a rather large bank always interesting to talk to under writers and who they had to look at mortgages for on occasion. Often these high profile ppl were skint due to their profligacy and received a no from the head under writer.

It's not cheaper when you look at the cost and subsidy and accounting tricks plus the carbon taxes. The cheapest way to produce reluable energy by far is coal which is why the Chinese are doing that. Wids you are right there is far too much debt. The one benefit the USA enjoys is they've had the fracking boom as well as sensibly re-established coal so to a degree have achieved energy independence. This is in contrast to Europe which has created expensive and inefficient energy systems very dependent on imports from places such as Russia. As such Europe is particularly vulnerable. The west's issue generally is an over troubled on debt and a parasitic bureaucracy which has taken over previously functional institutions. The wreckage the green lobby has inflicted on our energy sector is a great example.

Wids my only thought is an election followed by brexit will likely give a Tory majority which in turn makes a deal highly likely. That would put boosters on Lloyd's short term. You are definitely right there are plenty of risks and staying cash could be prudent.
