If shanta was valued at the same price per ounces produced as Barrick it would be valued at circa £600m MCAP, if it was valued at the same as Shandong it would be worth circa £1.5b MCAP.

Interesting comments from probably the most influential man in gold, Mark Bristow:

“Acquisitions could help lift Barrick’s metals output while awaiting longer-term development projects to come to fruition. Bristow said in a Dec. 28 interview that he’s focusing on deals in “the junior part of the market” this year.”

Just on a very rough calculation, Barrick is valued at (USD$) approx. $8,000 per ounce production, Shanta at circa 100,000 ounce production per year is valued at approx. $1,400 per ounce production!

If / and / or / when CAPEX and AISCs are brought under control in Q2 onwards, get ready for a serious re-rate here IMO.

You'll find we get a position of that back, but I wouldn't count a great deal of it in an SP valuations going forward, that will be a loss under the old JPM administration for which we have thankfully left behind.

Looking like 100-105k ounces a year going forward, and once into spring / summer all the heavy CAPEX for NLGM and Singida exploration will drop-off.

Unless Gold tanks, we are going much higher in SP terms.
