I don't want copper anymore now diamonds have been mentioned, it's not shiny enough ;) If pipes source from lower down then might that prior depth give the kind of pressure required for diamond formation prior to them being pumped up the squirty straw to a mineable depth?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dike_(geology) Just my immediate take - if you consider that all this stuff was, at some point in the dim and distant past, molten/liquid then I guess you're thinking about what was "flowing" through the pipe/dyke and did it eventually "pool" at either end of it in a structure of concentrated mineralisation? No idea on diamonds but that would be a comedy find - plenty of those in Botswana of course :)
