IMO £2 is the most we could expect. That gives a £700m market cap, factor in the £160m debt, that's £860m for about 70mmbbls P1&2 (from memory) of reserves. There's a 100+ of contingent reserves and several unbooked discoveries,so they have to be considered, but £860m looks a lot. The fact a lot of those reserves are developed and producing high bopd and profits must demand a premium but anything over £2 will be getting over $20 per barrel, which is unheard of in TOs

£2 would be nice.......checked the wife's Isa yesterday (something I usually avoid discussing) and there's 3000 of these at £2 in there. When I tell her my (our) average is 144p it dosent seem to wash Come on mystery buyers.....get me out of the shlt !!!!

I suspect the announcement was prompted by the price action over the last couple of weeks. SMDR has always been a leaky ship. Clearly something was afoot. I think it was getting to the point where the LSE would be asking for an explanation, as SMDR have had preliminary approaches legally they have to disclose, they certainly couldn't issue a 'know no reason' RNS. I suspect from the cautious wording the announcement was earlier that they would have liked their hand was forced

yep, that's my point, the offer wasn't good enough in the view of the BOD so they couldn't recommend it. if the offer here isn't in excess of £2 I cant see the BOD recommending it

yep, you would get exactly what they agree. TO can be a lengthy process, once a formal offer and price is announced the SP will jump to a few % below the offer. I tend to sell at this point otherwise you can hang on for weeks/months to finally get your cash at the full offer price. The danger is a counter offer comes in and you miss out on a bigger pa, but generally the BOD will recommend the offer and that's that. Sounds like its still early days yet, and unless a decent offer comes in the BOD may walk away. (remember IAE?)

Any TO where more than one bidder is involved could see the SP rise considerably from here. Initial approach seems to be around the 150p mark, directors were buying at £2+ a couple of years ago, and all were buying in the last 12 months between 150-200p. A few have high averages, I cant see them accepting anything below £2

Being involved in a number of TOs over the years tells me the sp will jump to the initial takeover offer price this morning. As can be seen from the last week or so of trading the insiders already know the offer and will buy up to just below that price

Quickest way to get a return here .......not sure I will see a massive one on the pile I bought at 2 quid though, but should beat my 146 ave

Not actually in GKP, but did buy at (I think) 16pish and sell at 110. Have a rule never to revisit a stock once I've banked a good profit. Must be a gap left there somewhere. Probably one in RkH around 40p?, again missed that one so never bothered. Thinking back EO.....gaps all the way up from 20p on discoveries.....some filled on the way back down but TO was about 70p....so probably some left behind. NPE as well taken out around £4 I think....gaps a plenty

I guess it's how long can you wait, but I remember a discussion with WJM about it a couple of years ago and he reckoned they don't always get filled Would probably start with small cap oilers made good, GKP maybe somewhere sub 30p. I suppose a complete market meltdown could fill it. Like I say though if it happens In 5 years it's a long time to hold off buying
