Black Mountain uncovers silver bonanza in Montana Wed, 9th Oct 2013 13:10 Silver miner Black Mountain has discovered higher grades of the metal at its mine in Montana, USA, that provide it access to two potential zones of production. The AIM- and ASX-listed company said the New Departure mine confirmed high grade and volumes at bonanza levels from grab samples, with up to 5,194g of silver per tonne (g/t). Chairman Pete Landau said these high grades delivered by its sampling programme underpinned the potential of the 'Bonanza Zone' at the mine and were in line with the company's historical database, supporting its ongoing efforts to bring the mine into production on a high-grade, low-cost production model. The sampling programme undertaken by Black Mountain has opened access to various levels of historic workings that it said will enable greater and more cost effective access to known historic mineralization zones as well as new mineralization areas. Results from six grab samples showed silver grades varying between 781g/t and 5,194g/t and additional gold, copper, lead and zinc. Said Landau: "As a result of significant progress made so far, the development drives now access three historical mineralisation blocks, in addition to the decline currently being developed towards the Main Zone." The company also pointed to silver recoveries of over 85% from optimised flotation metallurgical testing and it said it believed achieving 90% recoveries was possible in the near term, with carbon-in-leach testing (CIL) attaining silver recoveries of over 89.5% with low cyanide and lime consumption. Landau added: "We look forward to providing further updates on the completion of metallurgical testing, toll treat arrangements, the 3-D mine model and commencing development ore over the coming weeks. These will represent key milestones as we focus on first cash flow from the New Departure Silver Project." Analysts Nick Hatch and Rob Broke at Westhouse Securities said the announcement reinforced the high-grade potential of the resource at New Departure and investors "can hopefully anticipate further positive news in the near term". Shares in Black Mountain were up 4% to 6.75p at 13:47 on Wednesday. OH
