Hadn't realised the extent of it. Seems foolish with hindsight yeah. Everything seemed to be changing for the better, until it wasn't.

The West with its democracy, freedoms, the perceived successes of capitalism and so on, just felt unstoppable at the time.

We thought if we showed the people of these countries what they were missing they would orientate toward Western ideology. We thought we were democratising them with Mcdonalds and Coca-cola.

It was Boris Yeltsin in the Clinton era wasnt it. They used to get along ok, before that Gorbachev.

The world seemed to be a more harmonious place, old tensions defusing.

Who could have envisaged Putin and Trump, and the latter by choice!

Ive reposted the link to start as the message from the frontline is introduced, but primarily because i just wanted to give Tro's' excellent post more chance of being noticed. I too found it very moving.

IQAI has started to move off the 1.50p low, i know this as im the one moving it.

Each buy seems to open up the ability to sell a few more and the bid moves up in tandem with the ask, spread is fairly tight by usual standards too.

To put the level of implied volatility into context, consider Nvidia closed just above $725 per share as of the last trading session. Option straddles (which consist of a combination of a put and a call option) that expire on February 23rd, two days after the earnings announcement, cost roughly $80. In other words, a trader who wants to bet on a large move in the stock over the earnings release needs the stock to either rise above $805 or fall below $645 to break even on the trade. That is equivalent to an 11% swing in either direction - a huge expected move.
