"Canada shed 33,000 jobs in March, the worst month for the labour market in three years, as the threat of U.S. tariffs weighed on business confidence and slowed hiring.

Job declines were widespread across industries, and concentrated in full-time positions and private sector employment, Statistics Canada reported Friday. The unemployment rate ticked up to 6.7 per cent from 6.6 per cent in February. Bay Street analysts had expected a small increase in employment.

The March Labour Force Survey, conducted from March 9 to 15, is the first piece of hard data showing the effect of U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war against Canada."

The company said it produced 2,212 vehicles during the quarter that ended March 31 and noted that more than 600 additional vehicles were in transit to Saudi Arabia for final assembly.

The delivery total not only exceeded projections but also showed strong year-over-year improvement. Lucid delivered 1,927 vehicles in the same quarter last year and 3,099 units in the fourth quarter of 2024. For the full year 2024, Lucid delivered 10,241 vehicles — a 70% increase compared to 2023."

I dont know re FOM.

At the time of the referendum there was a lot of conflation with people arriving on boats and FOM. The public wouldn't fall for that trick now.

Broadly speaking, few people have issue with FOM with the economically comparable countries in Europe, and i would expect a similar reaction to FOM with Canada or Australia. The benefits outweigh the negatives.

I also think the whole immigration debate has shifted somewhat, with people now primarily concerned about the scale of immigration from culturally mismatched countries, as opposed to Europe or the prospect of FOM with Canada for instance.

Of course, re CANZUK, we needn't necessarily have full FOM if that proved contentious.

As regards the EU, our own immigration policy is now far less stringent than theirs. Tusk erecting barbed wire fences and deporting, Finland, and so on, they are all constructing thousands of miles of barbed wire fencing in response to the weaponised mass migration Russia is driving into Europe - Germany deporting, Italy the same.

Were we to rejoin, our open borders to the ROW may even be seen as a liability.

I was only pointing out other options that are receiving attention in light of U.S tariffs.

Obvs were we to rejoin the EU, our other trading relationships depend on EU trade policy.

Yeah the valuation is crazy, but thats not uncommon in the U.S.

Same with LUCID that i mentioned earlier.

Im only looking from a short term trade perspective, not a buy and hold. E.g. potential for a further 5% - 8% bounce over the week. But im not sure, and if im not sure i usually watch instead.

Just meant - he does have something to be concerned about in this instance - rather than an irrational fear associated with paranoia.

I've no idea if the guy is suffering with paranoia more generally.
