Imo, this is even worse.
Spacing the rows as in the first link, so a tractor can squeeze in between just means twice as much land is covered and increases the costs. If Gov insist on filling fields with them, i would rather they were as densely packed as possible, minimising their impact.
Our climate isn't well suited to solar, so we already require more panels to create the same output as a country with a more amenable climate. Spacing the panels in rows means more countryside is spoiled and limits the land use over a greater area.
The system with small panels overhead on a gantry type setup has its uses, but with obvious drawbacks and limits. If Gov want solar, they should preference industrial roof space, whilst preserving as much countryside unspoiled as possible.
I just dont think people want to live amongst this infrastructure, the countryside is incredibly precious to many people.
