39Ar and 85Kr are two radioactive nuclides whose activity in the atmosphere is
of the order of 10 mBq/m3 and 1 Bq/m3
, respectively [3,4]. As a result of the
liquid argon production process, they are both present in abundant quantities
and are the two most significant radioactive contaminations (TRANSLATOR ;-) ) in liquid argon.
The two isotopes decay primarily by ß emission, and their presence can limit
the sensitivity of experiments looking for low energy rare events (WIMP Dark
Matter interactions............ WHOOOOAHHH what the f does this shit mean !!!!!
OK, this 'shit' means that Argon 39, found in atmospheric Argon from condensed air screws up Argon detectors used by physicists trying to prove shit that us mere mortals find hard to grasp. Yes, HARD. The Argon in the Kansas gas stream will/should have very little, if any, of the unstable isotope 39 because it has been stuck underground for a long long time. This is GOOD $$$,
That's all you need to know folks. Smiley face,
