Mate, I’m serious, there is no consent from the government, that will take a huge amount of time, if they get it. Once consent is reached they will need to undertake feasibility and better back budgeting. They will then need to organise funding, again months and months of work. They will then need to EPC it which will be a 2-3 year programme at least. Minimum this is 5 years, most likely longer. That timeframe is on the basis that all goes well. How will GCM fund their operations for that timeperiod?? Look at Sirius mate, they are building a hugely profitable mine but for over 12 months now, their SP hasn’t really moved....it will do, but it’ll be a year or 2 away. Now is not the time to be in GCM unless you want your money sat doing absolutely nothing.

Bless you Searcher. I’m going to try my best not to sound patronising here. CIPS is a procurement/supply chain chartership that even at the highest level can be attained by a junior level professional. It has been developed to give ‘buyers’ a vocational qualification. This is shown as you try to elaborate on definitions for both framework agreements and framework contracts in a ‘purchasing’ context. The procurement of a significantly large power station such as this one would be governed by heavily amended, complex EPC contracts and is years away from this stage. You’ve also misinterpreted a contract framework agreement and a development framework agreement to mean framework contract and framework agreement respectively. I don’t want to elaborate more at this stage but I was a commercial manager for SNC Lavalin, building power stations worldwide so I’m pretty clued up on how the procurement and contracting arrangement between developer, financier and EPC contractor evolves. What I will say is even if the Chinese were very keen to get this moving and so were Bangaladesh, it is approximately 5-10 years away from being built. This ‘agreement’ and the ‘agreement’ 2 weeks back are fundamentally, no different.

Correct, it’s not the right way to go about it. But I have extensive experience in this type of development and it frustrates me people lack real understanding. For example, if I asked people on this BB, the difference between an MOU, a contract framework agreement and an EPC contract could people tell me? Many couldn’t. Just like the last RNS, i predicted what would happen and the same will happen here. This is over a decade in the making before this gets built (if it does) Good luck all.
