Ireland-based gasification technology supplier Eqtec has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US-based Phoenix Biomass Energy for two gasification plants.
Eqtec confirmed today that the two facilities would have an electrical capacity of 2MW and 3MW respectively and would cost about €10m to build.
Financial close is expected in the final quarter of this year with the purchase contracts signed "shortly thereafter".
The MoU makes Eqtec the "exclusive technology supplier" to both projects for the next 12 months, the company told ENDS in an emailed statement.
Subject to the outcome of these first two projects, Phoenix has further said it wants to use Eqtec’s technology and equipment on other future projects in the US, according to the Ireland-based firm.
