China imported 220m tonnes of coal during the first eight months of the year compared to 280m tonnes for all of 2018.
Benchmark iron ore prices sank on Thursday as doubts about the efficacy of Chinese economic stimulus resurfaced, while coking coal prices plummeted amid oversupply and import restrictions imposed by Beijing.

The Chinese import price of 62% Fe content ore fell 3.3% on Thursday to $93.23 per dry metric tonne according to Fastmarkets MB, after coming close to triple digits last week.

Donald Trump said he did not need to secure a deal with China to end the trade war before the 2020 election, as the US president stressed that he wanted a comprehensive pact and would not settle for a narrow agreement.

“We’re looking for a complete deal. I’m not looking for a partial deal,” Mr Trump said, rejecting suggestions that he needed an agreement for his re-election campaign.

JPMorgan may face deeper legal jeopardy that goes beyond the several individuals who have already been prosecuted.
U.S. prosecutors took an unusually aggressive turn in their investigation of price fixing at JPMorgan Chase & Co., describing its precious metals trading desk as a criminal enterprise operating inside the bank for nearly a decade.

The prosecutors charged the head of JPMorgan’s global metals trading operation and two others on Monday, accusing them of “conspiracy to conduct the affairs of an enterprise involved in interstate or foreign commerce through a pattern of racketeering activity” — counts more commonly known as RICO charges.

The RICO language, rarely used in big bank cases, suggests that JPMorgan may face deeper legal jeopardy that goes beyond the several individuals who have already been prosecuted.....glencore subpoena may not be a slap on tbe wrist
