Virgin Atlantic has announced that it plans to ground 80% of its fleet by 26 March this year and has asked staff to take eight weeks worth of unpaid leave, to help alleviate the pressure the airline is facing amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The group said that by asking staff to take unpaid leave during the course of the next three months, it will "drastically reduce costs without job losses." 8 weeks from 26th march hmm

Ben.these are small deals on tbe grand scheme of things with glencore but has most companies glencore and BP. Virgin airline and so on they have a debt facility from the banks and the Likes if they arnt earning how do they pay off the interest let alone the dividend...so they sell assets what's glencore worth broken up as opposed to selling all in one go or management buying glen out.......sage no company is too big to go bump micky o'Leary hasn't got bottomless pockets ..virus gone today itll take months for companies to make up tbe slack in earnings...virus goes on for 6 months then yep a lot of people lose their jobs ...and the government cant bail everyone one out can they this could have the makings of a real recession

Fira .have you given any thought to where these airlines will be in say 6 months if this virus really takes control and lasts another 6 months? these prices will look extremely expensive

I know a lot of you guys are fed up but this is a time for buying ...the right stock copper is always going to win oilers well oil isnt going anywhere over next ten years purely because up and coming countries do not have the cash infrastructure to accommodate EVs so oil will be here for years BP will at some point get to £7 in tbe next few years Putin or opec wont want these low price to carry on they'll want $55
