There is always panic in the market and most of the time it isn't really founded, I like the read ebtween the line not just stare at the headlines, so I'm standing firm.
"Because there is no established benchmark yet to determine what level of antibodies are needed to protect against the virus, it is unclear whether that two-thirds reduction will render the vaccine ineffective against the variant spreading around the world.
However, UTMB professor and study co-author Pei-Yong Shi said he believed the Pfizer vaccine would probably be protective against the variant.
“We don’t know what the minimum neutralising number is. We don’t have that cutoff line,” he said, adding that he suspects the immune response observed is likely to be significantly above where it needs to be to provide protection."
Yes, the market is very nervy, the pfizer announcement has got some investors panicking, I think that will be the sole reason for the falling SP. I'm sure we will learn more today/tomorrow.
Despite today's apparent bloodbath....."Vaccine passports and mass testing could allow a “semi-normal summer” of travel, Greece’s tourism minister has said.
Haris Theoharis said that his government was in very early discussions with British officials about how it might work."
"Theoharis told BBC Radio 4’s Today that technical discussions were under way with the UK to see if it would be feasible. He said that he was very hopeful that a solution could be reached."

Just one of those days! To me me my opinion hasn't changed. Still a good share to invest in, it's a waiting game, but I'm not a day trader so not really an issue! Are there other shares that will get me a faster return? Sure, but I don't know as much about other companies, and I know this industry and this company, so to me it's a no brainer. My strategy has stood me in good stead over the past few years. Too many gamblers out for a quick daily gain. Better off investing in AIM! You can risk all your cash for 2-3 times your initial investment some days! I'm all about slowly slowly catchy monkey, finish the year well up.
The FTSE 100 falls have accelerated after worse than expected US jobs figures.
Jobless claims rose to 861,000 last week, up 13,000 from the previous week's figure which has been revised upwards to 848,000 from 793,000.
The disappointment has knocked market sentiment, with the FTSE 100 down 1.35% or 90.8 points at 6620.10.
A more aggressive stance on testing could have nipped this in the bud months ago. They should have put the same effort into testing initially as they have into vaccinating us all and they could have contained the spread much more, in my opinion. There is no reason every workplace couldn't have rolled out testing, I know companies that test people on a regular basis and it helps them to isolate cases and minimize the spread. Workplace testing should be mandatory, there are many rapid tests, and while some of them are not the most accurate they give a good indication and would certainly have helped.
Yes completely get that, but investors are a sentimental bunch, and every time we get an announcement of any kind that moves us closer to flying in a big metal tube, the higher the SP will climb and the sooner I will get my sell price.
The vaccination passport being called for , will hopefully be implemented and will ensure that the people on the planes are vaccinated, so it kind of gets things moving that bit faster if it happens.
5 days now until the symbolic lifting of some restrictions. I'm pretty sure we will have a great idea about when to expect summer holiday flight bookings. The Pm will be keen to get this indication out there to encourage people to book holidays in time for the end of lockdown, to help this sector out. I'm hoping we have enough info to announce this already, but could easily find out around April time. As soon as holiday bookings are back on we can all breathe a sigh of relief!
