I took some Mara today as I don't like the funding charges IG are levying on my bitcoin. I'm hoping to get the rest of this year's ISA into KR1. A UK based polkadot DeFi bet. I hope AJBell can fill me.
Some of you may be thinking "If it's supposed to be a secret why are you telling everyone online? Doesn't that defeat the purpose?"
Not at all. Have you ever tried to convince someone to buy bitcoin? 99% of people interviewed will not touch it with a barge pole. Most people have zero interest in national fiscal matters. If you outlined this plan to them it would mean next to nothing. You may as well explain it to your dog.
Most people still think the US ran a free and fair election mainly because that's what the media is telling them. I wonder why we don't Electronic Voting Systems in the country? The election bods have trialed them several times but decided against their use. I wonder why? Yet definitely no fraud in the US. Sure.
I reckon for £100bn they might be able to secure 20% of global bitcoin. Maybe buy some Eth and alts whilst they are at it. In a year or two when they are fully loaded they can announce to the world that they are buying crypto and linking it to Sterling.
It's like doing a reverse Gordon Brown. If you remember he announced to the world that he was about to sell the UK's gold at the bottom of the market. Then he did actually sell it at the bottom of the market. Fiscal vandalism. I'm suggesting Rishi uses the last of the Sterling toilet roll to sweep up as many cryptos as possible at the bottom of the market cycle then use this to back up Sterling in much the same way as gold used to do with the dollar before Nixon stopped it.
Dear Billfunk,
Thank you very much for your e-mail regarding your suggestion that the Government secretly buy cryptocurrencies which I read with interest.
I have, therefore, referred this matter to the relevant HM Treasury Ministers for consideration and response and I shall let you have the reply as soon as it is received.
My thanks, again, for writing.
Yours sincerely
Your local Tory MP
I just emailed my Tory MP and told him to tell Rishi Sunak to start buying up crypto on the sly. £100bn and when it 20 bags they have effectively paid off the national debt. Once he is fully loaded he can tell the world he is buying thus sending the bitcoin price skyrocketing.
It's good to hear the bear side. My main worry is that i have been too slow to the party and that most of the rise has already happened. Hearing people give me the bear case reassures me I am still one of the early adopters, if not a late innovator, and so big gains are still available to me.
IMO the writer has failed to grasp just how small the bitcoin MCAP is at $250-$350bn. With institutional investment this could easily go to the trillions. What if nation states start buying in? Rishi Sunak would be the greatest Chancellor in history if he borrowed £100bn of worthless sterling and bought bitcoin. In a few years he would have paid off our national debt. The worst case scenario would be no significant rise in crypto and him having the fallback option of using it as backing to Sterling. Really, Financial Ministers across the globe should be competing with each other to secure as many blue chip crypto assets as possible in preparation for Fiat collapse.
Have Amazon paid a dividend yet? Based on the logic on this board they must pay a huge one to affect that kind of stock performance over the last twenty years.
Either that or they reinvest all their profits to achieve superior growth.
Amazon versus the average debt dinosaur FTSE stock? Take your pick.
It kills the share price. That kind of attitude is exactly why this stock is underperforming in London. On one hand people want a dual listing and on the other they want dividends. The whole reason to dual list in the US (or just move it all there) is to escape the rentier morons in London who think a 2 bag is a great success.
Prior to today's correction Riot had more than ten bagged this year. You can bet your bottom dollar that the Yanks aren't calling for a Riot dividend nor do they think their run has ended.
It would still kill growth. Argo is a tiny MCAP company the very last thing they should be doing is taking money out of it!
At least wait until it's actually worth something before you London nutters seek your rent.
Few people know this but the famous singer and sex criminal, R Kelly, is a big crypto fan. Here is his analysis of today's price action. Skip to 0:45 for the crux of it.

Mildly good news folks. The stocko score has been rising this last week or so. We are now on 32. Unsurprisingly momentum is rising quickly but not at the expense of value. If this gets above 80 all the fundamentalists will start to take notice.
