False negatives....10 May 2020 20:29
....a story On testing...
Just had a call from a friend who both her and co worker just had results from mid weeks tests, Both were feeling ill with identical symptoms.... Weak, aching limbs, persistent coughs.. sore throats so all the signs were there it was CV 19... Both got a call from there occupational health depts saying both negative which was great... but how do you explain the symptoms? .....normal flu or maybe just a seasonal bug who knows?...
They both rang their respective bosses and told them the results straight away .... but explained they still both felt quite unwell so where unsure whether to return to work.. Boss said come back in Monday.
2hrs later the co worker gets a 2nd call from OH saying there was a mistake and her test was positive! No second call for the first person ...so being concerned her test was also "mistake " she rings her OH but they said no it was negative as previously told but they had her date of birth wrong?...these are police staff so you would of thought they would be sent to a reputable testing centre but just shows you that the current testing the Gov is using is far from accurate and as for the 50k they have sent to USA for processing with more to follow I'd say... There must be a fair chance of of cross contamination to say the least... She also told me another member of staff she's spoken to was just handed a kit by an army chap in full HazMat gear and told to read instructions and do her nose and throat swabs herself as she didn't have a mask or gloves on....
All the above which I guarantee is true is pretty concerning to say the least.... The U.K. GOv needs GDR's instant POC testing for there and then accurate answers.... This shambles can't go on with these unreliable tests...the virus will be around for years at this rate.
