A highly transmissible variant of Omicron has become the most dominant worldwide, with case surges now being recorded in most European and Asian nations. This has raised further concerns just a week after the Government's Chief Medical Adviser Sir Chris Whitty said the next form of Covid could be the worst.

Nicknamed 'Stealth' Covid due to its ability to not always show on tests, strain BA.2 now represents more than 85 per cent of global cases. The sub-variant is far more transmissible than other strains but is less likely to cause severe illness - though vaccines are less effective against it and protection declines over time.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) looked to cool fears by announcing that protection is restored by a booster jab, particularly for preventing hospitalisation and death. Despite this, China, Germany and the UK have all recorded record case numbers in recent weeks.

Agreed..... it will save the NHS millions as already stated... but Just 1 child's hearing saved is a massive achievement and i have no doubt it will be accepted and rolled out world wide.. and then other gene sequencing products will follow... this truly could be massive for GDR.

Off topic..... but i read a few days ago the USA had spent Trillions on this covid pandemic ... equating to $50k for each person in the USA.
