Shares in Bellzone Mining (LON:BZM) shot up on Friday morning forcing management to confirm that a bid for the company could be on the cards.
Shares, which closed at 3.02p on Thursday, zoomed up to 3.5p shortly after trading opened, and kicked on some more in mid-morning trading after the company said it is in talks with one of its major shareholders, China Sonangol International Singapore, about a possible cash injection that could lead to an offer being made for the company.
The announcement contained the usual caveat about there being no certainty that the talks will result in additional equity capital being secured and there was no clue as to the terms under which the cash injection might be secured, but that did not stop the market chasing the shares up to 4.56p, for a 51% rise on the day.
