Note the REE concentrates bit from Malawi, so outside the remit of that 2 page photo copy!

🌍 Rare Earths: Strategic Imperative for Europe and Poland
On 21 October 2025, during hashtag#IMARC – the International Mining & Resources Conference & Expo in Sydney, the global rare earths (REE) market remains at a pivotal moment.
• hashtag#China dominates the market, controlling ~60% of global REE production and ~90% of processing capacity. Its export restrictions and market influence have disrupted global supply chains, affecting prices and availability of elements critical for electronics, renewable energy, defense, and advanced technologies.
• At the same time, the US and Australia announced a US$8.5 billion joint investment in critical minerals projects, signaling a strategic push to secure alternative supply chains outside China and strengthen allied access to these vital resources.
• Europe, including hashtag#Poland, is now seeking its own path to ensure resilience and sovereignty in critical minerals supply. Poland is positioning itself as a strategic European processing hub:
– The Mkango–Grupa Azoty rare earths separation and refining plant in Puławy (completion 2027–2028) will process imported REE concentrates (e.g., from Malawi) and integrate with local chemical industry expertise.
– Secondary sources such as coal ash (~6 million tons/year) and end-of-life batteries offer significant potential for sustainable REE recovery.
– Investment in green separation technologies and recycling can help Poland become a strategic node in the EU’s secure, resilient supply chain.
Rare earths are no longer just commodities — they are strategic hashtag#assets, essential for energy transition, technological sovereignty, and industrial resilience. hashtag#Europe, Poland, and global partners must innovate, cooperate, and invest strategically to navigate this unprecedented geopolitical and economic challenge. 🌱🔋
