Thanks for sharing your private conversation with the ADVFN poster Goldfinger. While I appreciate you sharing, the synic in me would ask, what's in it for Goldfinger? Is he a genuine poster? What's your opinion on this potential takeover rumour?

May I suggest that we start a petition to get troll BouremouthTom banned from LSE discussion boards. He has blighted this ITV discussion board for far too long with his argumentative disruptive comments.

Anyway, I took advantage of market jitters today to top up my ITV shareholding.

I don't make many comments but I do find it amusing to see the usual naysayers that always return when the ITV share price shows any weakness with their attempt to wind up ITV holders. Could they be they be paid derampers or just WUM's.

Nige, I would tend to agree with you regarding ITV's largest and most probably their longest shareholder Liberty Global. The question we should ask ourselves is why after over seven years do LG still own close to 10% of ITV? What are their intentions going forward? I would have thought that LG's own shareholders will be asking the same questions, their shareholders will also want answers. But I would have to question why do they still own ITV if they have no intentions of acquiring them.

Maybe Liberty intend merging Virgin Media with ITV? Just a thought.

Not sure why ITV would need to do a rights issue. ITV could afford to purchase Channel 4 without the need of one. Not all RI's are negative anyway, if they're done for a positive reason not for a negative one ie. to survive.

Nige, if you don't mind me saying, it's best to ignore trolls like Tom whatever he's called today, you can never reason with someone who has an ulterior motive. Keep posting Nige, your comments are always worth reading.

I strongly believe that ITV share price will recover or someone will step in with a takeover bid. ITV intrinsic value is 184p per share. Management would be letting shareholders down if they agreed to a lower offer.

Only the worlds largest asset manager Blackrock. A quick look at the RNS tab above would have told you that on August 10th they purchase 5% of ITV when the share price was 115p per share.

I topped up my ITV shareholding today, I may not have bought at the bottom but I feel that we are close to it. I also think that ITV should be trading at least 30% higher than todays 104p. I'm confident that ITV advertising revenue will be very strong this financial year, possibly a record year.

If ITV were to acquire CH4 I would expect a re rating of the share price of 160p - 180p with ITV taking 70% of the advertising market. I disagree with most posters on this site, I think that ITV are well run company, you cannot judge a company just on its share price performance alone, the share price will recover in time.

I've recently purchased shares in BT mainly based on valuation, but also with hope that there may be some M&A activity going forward. Just to get the general feeling of other BT shareholders opinions, if there was to be a takeover offer either by Deutsche Telecom or Drahi, a bun fight as suggested by NigeCo would be most welcome. At what offer price would shareholders be happy with? Thanks in advance.

Agreed, we can all speculate. I hope that 5eightsaccount is proved correct, only time well tell. The proof is in the pudding.

Now this is without the Liberty holding of 9.9%, so we can presume that around 44% of ITV shares are held with institutions etc. If we add the Liberty stake. Say add another 5% for margin of error that gives us 49% of the total amount of outstanding shares in ITV.

That leaves us with 51% of ITV shares still unaccounted for !"

"That leaves us with 51% unaccounted for" ? Interesting topic that I'm sure could be applied to other companies, so I'm not sure that it just applies to ITV. Cheers.

Thank you for the link, I would like to ask the following question if I may. If I'm not mistaken you include the total of institutions holding ITV shares of 34.41% Why don't you include the funds holding of 20.32%? Total of both 54.73%. If as you point out that Liberty own 9.9% this would give a total of 64.63%. So the outstanding shares totalling 35.37%. Can I also ask why Liberty's holding of 9.9% is not registered. Thank you.
