Yes we would all like the juicy info but the above points to LC activity responding to TG prevarication over the past few months. Don't know what else we could ask for from Kibo. The price drop is the same across the market - if no earth shattering news - down it goes. IMO fundamentals of my investment remain.

I would think that if the unsolicited ppa had gone through there would have been challenges. Surely one of the benefits of the open tender process is that it is transparent and head off any appeal

I continue to believe that the tender has nothing to do with MCPP and the SML/PPA are in progress at GoT pace ie snail but still very much alive and will come off.
Friday will be a non-event imo - its an opening of pre-qualification respondents so all that might come out of it is how many have been submitted and perhaps the names.

Personally I don't believe the qualification process is about MCPP - its based around 150MW units in various parts of the country and all we may find out on the 19th is how many companies responded and perhaps which ones. News I'm waiting for is SML and PPA.

What's the problem with LC telling us he is under an NDA or is the fact he is in subject to another NDA etc etc

JD I'm no expert but understand that the "p" in solar MW is for peak power production and only exists in the lab. I've seen in quoted that an actual installation will never produce peak power

Curiously, on the same day as the Coal fired qualification, Tanesco invited an identical invitation for Large Solar Projects, also for completion 2018-20. Perhaps we are reading too much into this and the programme is not specific to Kibo but a wider general tender process for power generation. On the other hand it could be an attempt to provide a direct comparison between coal and solar - proving or other wise the assessment of power mix in the Master Plan. Anyone know of a large scale Solar project at the same advanced position as MCCP? Note the same wording on "concept note or MOU"

This Invitation for Tender follows the intention of the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd (TANESCO) to competitively engage qualified applicants to develop Solar power projects with a total capacity of 150MWp at different locations within Tanzania.

TANESCO intends to procure power generation from a set of solar photovoltaic (PV) based power projects with total capacity of up to 150 MWp in Dodoma, Singida, Shinyanga, Mwanza, Simiyu and Iringa Regions between years 2018 and 2020.

TANESCO is, therefore, pleased to present this opportunity to prospective developers to undertake feasibility study, finance, build, own, operate and transfer solar power projects of not less than 20 MWp. Note that no more than SOMWp capacity shall be connected in one substation.

Tendering will be conducted through international Competitive tendering procedures specified in Regulation 1 of the Public Procurement (Regulations Government Notice 446 of2013), and is open to all Applicants as defined in the Regulations. Prospective developers who have earlier expressed their interests to develop solar power projects by way of concept note, MoU or any other form and have submitted documents to TANESCO are advised to participate in this tendering process.
