Ashm Strengths

   •   Very strong balance sheet: The group is essentially debt-free with a huge cash buffer relative to liabilities which is rare in financial services. 

   •   Excellent liquidity: It can easily fund operations and strategic initiatives without pressure. 

   •   Profitability: Ashmore earns high margins and meaningful net income for its size. 

   •   Scarce debt and excellent cash position make Ashmore hard to knock off course during tough markets.

   •   High profitability and liquidity mean it can weather cyclical volatility better than most.

How could I forget we also get a fantastic dividend GLA

Another idea is Ashmore Group (LSE:ASHM). Like most asset managers, it makes money from collecting fees and commissions from the assets under management (AUM)

Back in October, the company reported a 2% rise in AUM for the latest quarter. In the half-year report, it noted that 70% of the funds beat their relative benchmarks over a rolling three-year period. Both of those factors tie into why the stock’s done well recently, rising 8% over the last year.

The dividend yield’s generous at 10%, with the company paying out a consistent 16.9p per share for several years. I think this will continue, as it has been sustainable in the past. I don’t see why it can’t stay the same based on the financial performance this year.

Looking ahead, I struggle to see demand for asset managers decreasing, as people turn to them amid increasingly difficult investing conditions.

 January trading update is “OK to good” (no new bad news) UK like-for-like sales stabilise (flat or slightly positive)

 No further profit warnings

 Management sounds confident and in control

That alone could re-rate the stock back toward £1.90–£2.10, especially as short-term sellers step aside. I might be dreaming but 2026 could be a massive turn around for this stock. GLA

We go ex dividend 8th of January :) I’ve now invested 50k in PHP with a fantastic dividend which i believe will grow year on year. Happy holding picking up the dividend in a fantastic defensive stock. This board is very quiet for such a great share, hopefully that will change when we hit £1 plus next year GLA

I also need about 8p to break even 🙂 Who knows what will happen next year, but we’re back in the game & not dead and buried. Hopefully I’ll be able to add more in the new year and bring my average down to around 5p. GLA

I’ve added more since the budget, for me a no risk stock & a great dividend. This could hit £1.50 next year.
