Hi no really for Centrica under any circumstances until they sack the CEO. The pay rise and the performance related bonus for his incompetence and not delivering on the CEO’S koi targets would pay the years salary for all the 700 people who will be doing their job. These people will need too find new jobs when they all know who is responsible for Centrica’s poor performance.
Just look at the SSE share price now it’s heading below £10 a share. I have written down a large chunk of my money in Centrica. I think it will take around 2 years to even show a modest improvement, I do agree a new CEO will stir the share price upwards in the short time
Yes I do not want higher taxes like everyone else because we pay enough. My misses pays less tax than me in China, she also earns a lot more than me. She pays more tax on the personal luxury items like clothing and cars in China. We all need to pay tax yes but we give too much away to the people who do not contribute to system or pay any taxes. In China if you not not pay taxes etc you do not get anything both systems have there good and bad points so which is best ?????????
Hi you are right the public services like the railways are good in France and Germany but the yellow vest activators are really unhappy with all the other cost of living. I live 6 months a year in China and the high speed rail network is developing very quickly. This is still pretty expensive compared to the average wage in China though but for anyone who visits its really cheap. With regard to Centrica it can be sorted out but it will take someone who knows the business it is in. Conn does not have the expertise or know how he might understand exploration in Russia though but that is a different game. The cheapest is not always the best though but uncertainty and the wrong direction Centrica is going in will keep the share price low in the medium term. Vodafone is going in the same direction and the rumours say they will also be cutting the dividend
If Corbyn tried to nationalise any company on the cheap he will not be able too. The pension funds.hedge funds and large investors will take other through the international courts because they would be breaking the law. They can nationalise them again yes but they would need to pay the correct share value @ the time. This would mean the country could never afford to do this. I seriously think they could re nationalise the railways but people tend to forget what the railways where like when it was a nationalised enterprise if you could call it that. Anyway which sound people would vote him into power they would bankrupt the country and he has never lived under a communist thinking country only the elite are well off because of the back handlers they collect.
Most of the senior managers who work for CNA are on performance related contracts. Yes I know because I was one for a long period and plenty got dismissed under their performance. Though this does not seem the case for the top management and the board in the current environment and how this is I do not know. I left 10 years ago because I wanted to start my own business and we now have over 5.5k employees. If me and my misses delivered this type of performance our company would have gone under. I also own a lot of shares in Centrica and I’m down around 200K. The CEO and board are not delivering share holder value and this is a major KPI and the only way the company will recover is to change the very top in the business. They have milked the company and earned millions whist driving the business into the abyss. The anylist and rating agencies are driving the price down because they do not see any improvement in. The business or the direction they are leading it in. I just feel sorry for all that have seen their investments drop from a company the was very good even though it always had issues and problems
The engineers in Centrica where the only employees who had the final salary pension left. All the other staff in Centrica lost their final salary pensions years ago. The trade unions have really fought hard to keep the engineers final salary and it is sad news that they finally lost the fight. If the business had maintained its profit and performance they who have had more ammunition to keep on fighting for the final salary. People like Conn who have guided the business in the wrong direction in my eyes will never be affected. When he leaves the company he will have millions in his pay off and all his share options. So he is probably oblivious to how it will affect working people when they reach retirement age. So sad to here the news thanks
The employees do not get free shares except the top people on their performance reviews. All the employees can sign up to share save schemes which they pay money into. Most of the people take their money back now because it is not worth them buying shares. These schemes are even losing money for the staff and the majority are not on very high salaries
Well well I think I di know issues regarding Centrica because I was in a senior position for 20 years before I left . Spend time and understand what’s going wrong in the business and the direction it is being directed in. It is going in a completely different direction from a few years ago. It is not a technology business but a utility company and it is even losing customers in the US and Canada. They also bought companies in North America that they had never been in before and lo and behold they either closed them down or sold them for a loss. All senior managers in the company are on performance related pay and I know a few managers who where dismissed on their performance.the 2 previous CEO’s managed to grow the business on shrewd management and a happy committed workforce which is none existent now.
Both Vodafone and Centrica pay decent dividends but both share prices have dropped. The Centrica drop from its dizzy highs is a lot bigger than Vodafone’s drop. I had a big holding in Vodafone but I sold them for £2.00 a share,Vodafone will recover quicker in my mind Centrica will not until they change all the top management structure. My saving grace from Centrica is the dividends payment because I am losing a very large amount in value with the share price. I will not be putting more money into Centrica because the way the management run the business is poor.
When I left after 34 years I never received anything for my long service so interesting news. People should be rewarded for long service and 40 years wow a miserable £250.00 I would have to;d them to stick it. Conman Conn would struggle to last 10 years with any company because most senior positions are performance related
Conn the con artist must be one of the worst performing ceo of any FTSE 100 company in recent times. The stock just gets downgraded regularly by the anylist and they cannot have any faith in a con artist he should donate his pay packet to charity
Thanks for your reply I also did well out of the share schemes because I received BG group and lattice group which was taken over by National Grid. Yes my life changed when I left Centrica and I never envisaged living in China. My missus now want us to get married and I have never been married in my life just lived with my long term relationships. It’s a bit of a no go area just living with someone in China so I’ll see just to make Bai happy. Shanghai is a fantastic place to live if you just forget about the 28 million people
Hi yes you r right I left the business in 2009 from a senior position in the gas side of the business. I just decided it was time too walk away and make a new life after 34 years. I still hold a silly number of shares and Conn has ruined the value. So I have still interest in the company and stay in contact with some ex colleagues.I was immune from the bullying side that was coming into the business because I was a trouble shooter. I now have a business with my partner in China. My missus and myself have 3 factories with 5500 employees so there is life away from Centrica. Speaking to ex colleagues I cannot understand the direction of the business under Conns leadership. It is the lower end of the staff that are losing their jobs again while the top guy sits in his nice office in Windsor. I feel sorry for the normal working staff because a lot of them will have share save schemes running.
The share price was only lower when they carved the old nationalised British Gas up into 4 companies. They all performed well and the others have both been taken over recently Royal Dutch Shell taking over BG group. I have done well out of the company’s except for Centrica. This is all down to conman Conn because Centrica only had 2 previous CEOs after privatisation. Then the conman came in and undid all the good work of hid predecessors and he has cost me around 300k. I cannot see it ever getting any where near it’s best price range so I hope it makes some sort of recovery.
