Hey all. Hope everyone is keeping well.
I popped back to check in and was fairly surprised to see the SP holding up without an RNS. I suppose there must be support or current shareholders are just sitting tight.
Does anyone know if ORM has actually ever dug something out of the ground and started selling it profitably. I don't recall that happening in the 5 or 6 years I held my shares. The only meaningful 'income' I recall was the disposal of assets. Which was used to plug the hole on a substantial trading loss.
The reason I sold my remaining shares was lack of BOD communication, ever decreasing cash pot, and potentially insufficient funds to start the project which could mean a fund raising event and therefore dilution.
I agree with GP and Flundra unfortunately. The relationship between the BOD and main shareholder has been both costly and shambolic. 8 months since ROC and zero back up plan on the face of it! What a wasted opportunity in what should have been a profitable venture in copper. I could no longer support a company that seems unable to support itself. If anything changes (personnel), then it may be time to dip back in. But until then, the cash is invested better elsewhere IMO.

Hi crawshaw. Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if they use the exact spot price for conversion. They also seem to be 2 or 3 points off. 1.36 rather than 1.39. Also I wonder if $2.83 is the mid price?!? Either way, SP is definitely heading in the right direction. :)

Now $2.83 in the US so c. £2.09.
Should be a good day tomorrow if the price holds up!!

Share price has fallen from £3.80 to 3p (99%) but this does not make SGI a buying opportunity. On the contrary......

SGI Interim Trading Update:
The Philatelic division reflects the results for our stamp dealing, retail and auctions business. This division
has seen the biggest impact from COVID-19 with total sales down 48% at £1,7m compared to £3,4m. The auction and retail business has suffered most with sales approximately 60% down year on year. Although demand for material was strong, the inability and desire of people to travel has resulted in it becoming much harder to source. This in turn affected the number
of auctions we were able to hold in the first half of the year. Our rare stamp dealing business was also
impacted by the restrictions on movements with less opportunities to meet customers at our premises
and at the various stamp shows around the world. The pandemic also resulted in the London 2020
international show being cancelled.

Not exactly good news flow is it?!? However it's all well and good blaming the pandemic but what about the 5 years preceding this when the SP really tanked?!?!

Funding & Cash Flow
As at the balance sheet date the Group had cash balances of £2.5m and a loan of £14.3m repayable in
March 2023, provided there is no event of default in the meantime. This loan is due to Phoenix S. G.
Limited, the Group’s controlling shareholder.

A £14.3m loan repayable in 2023 which is larger than the Market Cap (£12m) does not bode well!! Being supported by a shareholder tells it's own tale!!

Just 2 Directors invested. Doesn't exactly show a huge amount of faith in their own business with what appears to be relatively paltry investments.

Pearls: You have the audacity to troll other BB's yet you are invested and are trying to pump an absolute dog of a share.

Other SGI shareholders. I really feel for you (genuinely) and thank you for not trolling other BB's like Pearls does. Unless something radical changes with SGI, then your investment may well go pop in 2023. Do yourself a favour. Sell SGI now and buy ARB (Argo Blockchain). Currently making $400k to $500k per day (yes...per day) with appx 84% gross profit. And there is plenty more exciting news in the pipeline.

Hi Damo2014. My lowest yield for residential in Zone 1 (Central London) is only 3.3% but I've been offered yields starting with a 2 which doesn't make financial sense to me. So 5% is actually quite good in London - Zone 2 areas. Indeed. I've managed to increase the yields through HMO's. I must admit I was tempted by the higher (double digit) yields up North. Even went to view properties a couple of years ago but decided to stick to the areas I know.

The Crypto side is still a huge learning curve for me. I wish I understood it better. I'll check out Tezos thank you. I believe there are now 4,000 to 5,000 crypto currencies available. It really reminds me of the dot.com boom (which I was involved in). It's a complete minefield for early adopters but like the Internet only the Alpha's will go on to spectacular growth.

I could keep typing but mindful this is an ARB board!! I have widespread investments and this is the only one I check in on every hour (more like every 15 minutes if I'm honest). It has become an obsession!! There are some really great people on here and I'm delighted to be a part of it. :)

Hi Highveld. Welcome to the forum. It's not my 'day' job but I also own a fairly property portfolio in London and surrounding areas. A diverse mix of both commercial and residential units. I'm sure you know this anyway but typical yields range between 6% and 8% for commercial and 3% to 5% for residential. I know I could yield more outside of London (before you tell me that) but I like to keep an eye on them especially as some have development potential. Capital values should see a steady rise over time but it will only be single digit increases. Not particularly exciting or a game changer over a 5 or 10 year term. I view them as a relatively secure investment (even in a pandemic) which as you rightly say should be there in the morning. However, most professional investors mitigate risk by not putting all of their eggs in one basket. What the property does not give me is the adrenaline rush that I get from crypto and crypto related investments, or perhaps more importantly the phenomenal growth potential. And so I am quite happy holding 3% to 5% of my total investment in the Crypto arena. One of my more learned colleagues may correct me on this but I understand that only 1% of the population are currently invested in digital currency. What happens when this figure gets to 5%, 10%, 20%? Before you post a comment about a particular company it's worth properly researching it first!! That is why you received some fairly curt responses. If there is one company that deserves to be a part of your investment portfolio, it's the one in which you decided to voice your opinion. Perhaps return back to this forum at the end of this year. We can compare % increases between property and ARB. I have put it in my diary. See you in December!!

Well done to your son Matt007. That was pretty decent trading. BTC appears to be recovering (as usual) and ARBKF closed only 1.47% down. His trade at 1.61 is looking good!! Have a great weekend too. :)

Hi LimpingAlong. With BTC circling around the 38k level (which we know is a timing issue) and ARBKF finishing at £1.75 equivalent this evening, it may present another opportunity tomorrow to average down for some in the group.

Thanks SR123. I'm much happier now!! I have never held so many shares in one company that fluctuates as much as this. It's a proper thrill ride!! Although like most of us on here, I prefer the going up to the going down!!

Argobull. That was my mistake. I didn't leave sufficient to leverage. I loaded up the ISA's the day before the March reporting figures. I'll be following that advice for future dips. :)

Morning all. Having endured a pretty rough ride over the last couple of weeks I felt compelled to thank the regulars (not of the troll type obviously) for their calmness and assurity during this time. Anyone who reads this BB will know that what we have just experienced has happened before, but when someone (me!!!) experiences it for the first time, you begin to doubt yourself, and all of the fundamentals. Had it not been for people like RacingCyclist, GolfGains, Stnz, calamari, The Prophet, donotpanic, Albert82, DSFLAT, LimpingAlong, Herdie, Adamskiii, Lolades78, Moog, jayblu48, Poptimist, hydrogen, Argobull, 600Thieves, Xenor, AlphaOmega, and of course SR123 and Delacey, I would have almost certainly taken a substantial hit and panic sold. Instead, I managed to throw the kitchen sink at it and topped up with 2 fairly large purchases at £1.36 and £1.38 which has brought me nicely to break even (previous average was £2.45). Under normal circumstances, I would not be rejoicing at only breaking even, but with the holding I now have and the road that lies ahead, there will be plenty of time popping those champagne corks. I may even tell the wife now!! ;) Thanks again guys, and my apologies if I've missed anyone out. All the best. BR.
